Exotac tinderZIP - First Impressions

I’ve been fortunate to get my hands on some very great products from Exotac lately, and one of them is the tinderZIP. The tinderZIP is a two-in-one product that is perfect for the outdoorsman or prepared individual. Known for their fire starting products, Exotac keeps coming up with some pretty cool stuff.

Exotac tinderZIP - First Impressions

The tinderZIP is an emergency tinder zipper pull that can be attached to just about anything you want. When I got the product, I knew it would be great for attaching to a jacket zipper. When you’re out in the forest on an adventure or camping expedition, the last thing you need is the inability to create fire. With the tinderZIP, all you have to do is remove the plastic pull on the end, cut off the tip, and pull out the inner core. The interior of the pull is made up of a highly flammable, water-resistant, and easy to ignite tinder core. Once you light this, you’ll have a tinder that burns hot for about 60 seconds.

Using the tinderZIP, you don’t have to stop at just a jacket zipper. You could attach it to your favorite day bag, folding knife, backpack, or tent. No matter where you are you’ll have the ability to get a fire started very quickly. The core itself is 6 inches long and the orange tinderZIP is made of a retro-reflective strand. Made in the USA, you can buy a 5-pack in black or orange for $8.95

Author- Rodney Pointer is a former Army Infantryman. After graduating from Airborne School, he was ruthlessly assigned to Fort Polk, Louisiana to live out his days as a dirty leg. He served with the 2nd BN, 30th Infantry of the 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division. Following his deployment to Afghanistan, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Intelligence Operations. He currently works as a nuclear security contractor.
