Giving Thanks For Low Muzzle Rise: A Griffin Armament M4SD II Review

Today I’m giving thanks for reduced muzzle rise. Some of you know that I’ve been busy at “work” reviewing the Windham Weaponry SRC (Sight Ready Carbine) AR-15. In addition, I’ve busied myself outfitting the AR with my preferred accessories.

If you have begun to think that I like every product I encounter, I hope you’ll realize that’s far from reality. Actually, I find some fault in most products with which the average person would be perfectly pleased.

However, I choose to spend my time bringing the cream of the crop (great products) to your attention. My generation is filled with “demolition artists,” but there are few “craftsmen.” I’d personally prefer to build than to tear down. There will be times when I will bring negative reviews before you, but most of the time I will leave that job for someone else and will keep searching for the product that will fill the faulty one’s place with quality.  This is especially true on a day like today, a day to give thanks.

Today is a day to be thankful, to appreciate how good we truly have it. One of the many things that I’m thankful for is the M4SD II Compensator from Griffin Armament. It took a platform that I loved to run (the AR-15) and helped me run it a wee bit faster. Those of you that haven’t ever removed the little “bird cage” flash hider on the end of your barrel and replaced it with a new muzzle break or comp, you may not know what you’re missing.

In this case you’re missing little-to-no muzzle rise, unbelievable recoil control, compatibility with several sound suppressors, a durable black oxide finish, little added noise, and low concussion, all at a reasonable price (under $100).  When I unpackaged the muzzle device to install on my Windham, the instructions were straightforward and the tool and shims provided made installation and timing a breeze.

I’ve enjoyed a number of muzzle devices that provided the shooter a noticeable advantage but none that I’ve enjoyed more than this. I’ve also tried some that didn’t seem to do all that the manufacturer advertised. Thankfully, this one didn’t do that to me. The compact profile, low weight, and perceived effectiveness make this device one to add to your wish list. If you happen to have one mounted on one of your rifles, you realize that the added fun factor translates into something to be truly thankful for.
