CTS Targets today announced that after much searching they have selected Chevalier Advertising as their firm to represent them in the firearms industry. In the press release that we here at The Arms Guide were the first to get the deal allows Competition Target Systems (CTS) to use Chevalier’s 60+ years of experience and networks to get the word out about their various lines of AR500 Steel Targets. The deal allows CTS to focus on manufacturing and shipping quality AR500 targets and lets Chevalier Advertising worry about the rest
Who is Competition Target Systems ?
Competition Target Systems (CTS) is a Springfield, Minnesota based small business that offers several models and thicknesses of AR500 targets and stands. The company makes stand alone plates as well as nearly ready to use kits. I say nearly ready because all they need to be 100% operational in many cases is a section of 2″x4″ wood board or a T style metal fence post. Targets are available in 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ thicknesses and designed to be used with most calibers from .22LR (1/4″) all the way to most modern non steel cored centerfire rifle rounds (1/2″).
The team at CTS also decided to make a variety of bases for their targets to appeal to a more diverse user group. There are several styles of bases for the CTS targets that range from a 2″x4″ spike base (Shown below) to a bracket system that allows you to mount the CTS targets to a standard saw horse. If that wasn’t enough there is even a package that uses the CTS Horizontal Pro Hangar System which allows you to mount up to eight of the 8″ or 10″ diameter AR500 plates on a saw horse. This type of modularity and customization would be perfect for a private home range.
Shooting steel targets is becoming more popular and the market for well built and durable targets is heating up. The response I have seen from people shooting correctly built and positioned targets has been amazing. They provide instant feedback to shooters and allow for hours of range time without having to change paper or reposition targets. Using these types of targets use to have a “scary” stigma attached to them with tales of crazy ricochets, those days are long gone. There is nothing dangerous or reckless about shooting AR500 steel targets as long as you follow simple manufactures instructions.
CTS targets offers targets ranging from small 4″ square targets all the way up in size to include full sized IPSC approved 3/8″ thick laser cut targets. They also offer a pattern of target I had never seen before, the Tree Hanger target. The Tree Hanger utilizes a few straps, some grade 70 steel chain link and a 6″ diameter gong style target to turn any old tree or utility pole into a make shift target stand. It’s an interesting idea that I think is perfect for a quick trip to the woods to shoot with some friends or family members. It’s a set up that you can easily put in a pack, hike into the woods with and return with minimal clean up.
If you are researching steel targets you should take the time to check the links below and look at the wide range of options available from Competition Target Systems (CTS). The options and modularity of some of the systems really sets CTS apart from many of the other manufactures in the steel target game. Not all targets are created equal though. When choosing a target be sure it is made of a high grade steel like AR500 and can handle the rounds you intend to shoot at it. A little research will go along way to providing you and your family with hours of safe shooting experiences and memories.
Competition Target Systems can be purchased direct from the company’s website at www.ctstargets.com, and many retailers such as Amazon, The Sportsman’s Guide, and the all purpose gun parts warehouse and leading firearms industry retailer www.brownells.com. The company is growing every day as word of their prices, options and quality grows, in fact many of the target types have growing waiting lists, even at Brownells.Com. Remember you read it here at The Arms Guide, and be sure to check the links and video below.
