Our Story

SOFREP_Armory-St._Petersburg
In the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community, the loadout room is a make-shift area where gear and guns (e.g. Loadout Gear) are prepped prior to mission launch.

After leaving Military.com Jack Murphy, and I were talking about our love of all things gear and guns and how we wanted to create a hard core site that featured our favorite guns and gear. Only the best stuff; what the hell would we call it we asked ourselves. Then Jack nudged me with the concept and what ultimately turned into the Loadout Room.

The Loadout Room Defined

In the Special Operations Forces (SOF) community, the loadout room is a make-shift area where gear and guns (e.g. Loadout Gear) are prepped prior to mission launch.  It’s common to see guys in this room making last minute tweaks to their gear, painting guns, adjusting lasers, taping straps and shooting the shit among the brotherhood.
Loadoutroom guns
We created the Loadout Room as a gathering place for like-minded people like yourselves.  Check your ego at the door.  If you are Military, LEO, a Gamer, Hunter or an Airsoft enthusiast, this a place where you can get authentic hard-core reviews on great gear and guns.  We don’t post crap, only the stuff.  However, we will give critical feedback and share buyer beware information if we feel it’s appropriate.  Most print publications cater to their advertising sponsors. It’s the tail wagging the dog. Not on this site. We have great relationships with our sponsors and they understand that nothing is off limits including them. The best thing about the Loadout Room is that you get good conversation with like-minded guys that have been down range and in the fight.  We know what it’s like to trust your life to a piece of kit.

Basic Loadout Described…..

  1. First Line Gear: All things clothing and close to your person.
  2. Second Line Gear: Guns, ammo and H-Gear (enough said).
  3. Third Line: Everything on your back, what keeps you sustained in the field (your pack and all it’s contents)

The TEAM

The Loadout Room is contributed to and moderated and led by former US SOCOM Special Ops Operators, not some twenty-year old who doesn’t know the pointy end of a weapon.  Bottom line is that the Loadout Room editors stake their own reputations their reviews.

The guys that moderate this site have been down range and in harms way.  We know what it’s like to get shot at, IED’d and more importantly, what it’s like to have your life depend on the quality of your gear and weapons. Lifetime guarantees don’t mean shit when you exit the ramp door at 18,000 feet in the dark of the night.

Pulling Punches

Not us. This site doesn’t pull punches out of  fear of advertising sponsor backlash. The truth is, a lot of print magazines and gear sites let their advertisers call the shots when it comes to decisions on what to post and what to say. Insanity! While we promote great relationships with our sponsors and industry, the tail does not wag the dog in The Loadout Room. The other painful fact is that there are a lot of sites writing about gear and guns and that just don’t have a clue.  Most the people on these sites have never left the comfort of their living room couch let alone stepped outside the wire.

Hard core guns and gear born again hard.

So welcome to the Loadout room friend,  pull up an ammo can, pop open a cold beverage and join us for great conversation about the gear we love.
