“Once people get it in their hands they’ll see the functionality outweighs the cool factor,” says Ben Brown, co-founder of the Wise Men Company and inventor of the Signet Ring. The innovative accessory adds a karambit-style ring to the Spyderco Delica in place of the FRN backspacer. The introductory video for the Signet Ring went viral and plans are already in motion to outfit more models.
Made from 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum, the Signet weighs less than an ounce. The accessory also incorporates a pointed striking surface and adds more than an inch of handle length to the Delica frame.
Brown says the Delica when combined with a Signet offers a single knife solution for utility and self-defense. “The Signet takes it into that defensive role so well,” he tells us. “Most people don’t want to carry a bunch of knives. We’re always looking for a knife that does it all – and the Delica was so close.” News of the Signet follows Spyderco’s own reveal of the new Wharny Delica last month. The excitement both announcements are generating promises that 2017 will be a big year for the EDC staple.
