Commenting Policy

The Loadout Room Community and Commenting Policy

The Loadout Room provides legitimate reviews, topics and history on guns, gear and ammo. Our community is comprised of Military, LEO, gamers, hunters, and Airsoft enthusiasts, as well as policy makers, educators, parents, and the general public, and we do our best to provide a balanced perspective.

We hold our community and visitors dear. We put a lot of effort into providing valuable information to each of you, and we work very hard to make this site the best it can be. We are dedicated to our community and to maintaining a respectful, engaging and informative commenting system for your benefit.

We want you to understand our general guidelines for commenting so you can get the most out of our community. We want you to know that we will enforce our guidelines 24/7 with staff review, community moderators and moderation tools. We ask that you follow our guidelines to help us make this the best Guns & Gear site available anywhere.

Feel free to contact us to discuss this, or any Loadout Room matter, at any time.

1. Censoring

We don’t censor a damn thing, but we will protect our community, our website, our honor and our livelihood as we see fit.

Don’t come in here and shit all over our house and call us censors when we kick you out.

2. Please stay as long as you want, but if you misbehave we’re gonna ask you to leave

The Loadout Room promotes a safe, engaging and civil commenting environment. We welcome your feedback, ideas, shared stories and histories, and point/counterpoint.Doubt us, question us, make us work for you, but when you challenge us and we respond, accord us a little respect. We welcome your opinion regardless of identity, politics, ideology, religion or agreement with other The Loadout Room community members and authors. Please be respectful. Be a decent human being.

But if you want to get into direct or indirect attacks, name-calling, insults, attempts to derail, hijack, troll or bait others into emotional responses then we’re going to kick you off the site. We might try to contact you and ask you to cool down, but if you’re not going to behave, or if you get in with a false identity, then you aren’t welcome.

3. Comments are reviewed and moderated

We review comments before they are allowed to publish. If you don’t have a history with us you may see your comments pending approval, but, assuming they meet our guidelines, they’ll go live relatively quickly. If you’ve violated our policy you will never see your comments on the site. We do review all comments as quickly as possible.

If you do have a history with us then you’re likely to be whitelisted and your comments will go live as you make them. And we’ll still review your comments because, honestly, your comments are typically pretty interesting and informative.

4. Community Moderation

We’ve asked a few members of our community to assist us in moderating comments. We don’t take this lightly and neither do they. And yes, we are moderating the moderators.

Our commenting system allows everyone to moderate comments. You can share, flag, like or reply to a comment. It’s all built into the system. You can also use our contact form to alert us to concerns at any time.

And if you get flagged we’re going to look at what you’re doing. At the same time, we’re going to look at who’s complaining because some people have no tolerance for others. And if a person complains too much, well, we’ll call a troll a troll and be done with it.

Typically, though, we find it best to leave things alone.

5. Identity

We would love for everyone to use their real identify, but we know that’s not always possible or practical. So we ask that you represent yourself as best you can as you, a single individual with a legit background, honest interest and sincere desire to engage.

But don’t come in here and try to scam us. Don’t troll. Don’t try to create multiple identities and start shit. We’re not going to tolerate it.

6. A safe place for engagement

There’s no rank, no superiority and no entitlement BS here in The Loadout Room. We’re here to talk and share good intel. We want you to feel safe to say your piece and ask questions, and we hope that you feel you can expect a sincere answer.

Nobody should give out their phone numbers, email addresses or other methods of contact – we’ll delete your comments immediately if you do that, for your safety and ours.

So again, don’t come in here and try to scam us. Don’t troll. Don’t try to create multiple identities and start shit. We’re not going to tolerate it.

And really – think about who we are. Do you really think we’re technologically ignorant? If you’re coming here to cause trouble and threaten folks, you can expect that we’ll take action, and even cooperate with law enforcement and 3-letter agencies to nail you if needed.

7. I’ve fallen and I can’t get up

If you’ve continued to be a troll or disgruntled commenter and your comments no longer appear on the site, well, you’re done. We warned you. Fare thee well. But don’t come begging with promises of ‘I’ll be good…I promise no more porn references…just like old times…I can back off of on your orders.’ It’s over. Go away.

For the rest of you, which is 99.999% of you, we love having you here. Drop us a line and let us know how we’re doing. Tell us what you want us to cover. We hope to continue to earn your visits each and every day.
