Kershaw Blur Tanto Knife

Kershaw Knives makes quality USA made blades at an affordable cost. I always have an everyday carry knife on me, hence the word “everyday,” and you should too. There are more options available today than ever before – from expensive customs to cheap overseas knives. I have several blades and most are well over the $100 mark. Their expense makes it a harder decision to carry and risk either losing or damaging the blade. With the Kershaw Blur Tanto, you’re getting a quality American made product for under $75.00 – depending on what flavor you go for. The price of the Kershaw Blur Tanto is low enough that most people won’t be afraid to carry it and more importantly use/abuse.

Style of Knife: The Kershaw Blur Tanto offers all the great grip advantages of the other Blurs on the force, but this one offers tactical styling with a modified tanto blade and partial serration.

Blade Length: 3-3/8″ Long / Closed length is 4-1/2″ / Overall length is 7-7/8″

Type of Edge: Tanto tip with a combo edge make this an ideal everyday carry knife capable of handling a myriad of cutting and stabbing tasks.

Blade and Handle Materials:

  • Blade material is Sandvik 14C28N Stainless with a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating providing additional corrosion resistance and is non-reflective.
  • Handle material is 6061-T6 anodized aluminum with Trac-Tec inserts for improved grip and retention.

Unique Features:

  • Speed Safe – Assists you to open any SpeedSafe knife quickly and easily with a manual push on the thumbstud.
  • 2 Step Serration – Serrations assist in cutting through particularly tough or fibrous material, such as rope or cord. The Kershaw 2-step serration is a more aggressive style of serration.
  • Inset Liner Lock – A strip of stainless steel is riveted inside the knife’s handle. This creates a slimmer, lighter knife, while still providing the strength and security of a locking liner.
  • Reversible Pocket Clip – Pre-drilled holes in the handle enable the user to change the tip orientation to either tip up or tip down carry.

Application: Everyday carry knife. The Kershaw Blur Tanto also excels at most anything from camp tasks to emergency defensive use.

Pros: Made in the USA. With this price point, you don’t have to be afraid to use and abuse the blade. In the off chance you do lose it, you’re not out a lot of money.

Cons: It’s not a large knife so using the blur with gloves on may be a little difficult.

Bottom Line: With its angled shape, the tanto blade provides additional piercing power to penetrate tough materials. The unique shape with the swedge puts more steel behind the tanto point to support its piercing strength. The short front edge is particularly handy for opening boxes. For razor sharpness, Kershaw hollow grinds the edge. For additional versatility, Kershaw added partial serration to the blade, giving you a great tool for cutting through materials such as webbing or rope.
