DryFireMag Resetting Glock Trigger Simulator: Make Your Gun Safe for Training

DryFireMag is a simple magazine replacement which provides a realistic trigger pull in an empty Glock pattern weapon. It blocks the trigger and prevents the insertion of a live magazine keeping dry fire dry and safe. While no training device is a perfect simulation, the trigger feel is adjustable to match your gun. If you can’t shoot in your living room, this is the next best thing.

Trainers and competitors every where agree that dry fire practice is necessary to shoot well.  With a double action pistol, this is easy, with striker fired pistols like the Glock there is a real problem.  When the trigger is activated and the striker is released and the shooter must reset the striker  by cycling the slide. There are workarounds like using a small block to keep the slide out of battery, but this doen’t give you a trigger break.  Is this the way to build good muscle memory of your trigger pull?

When you activate your trigger with the DryFireMag loaded, you get the feel and sound of the firing pin release.  With both hands still in the firing position and staying on target, you simply let the DryFireMag reset the trigger with a snap, and you are ready for your next trigger press.

You can take DryFireMag to the range. You can work through a stage or just settle your trigger press down anytime things go sideways. Just clear your gun and insert DryFireMag. Safe and easy as a reload.

I have eight 9mm an .40 cal Glocks and a couple of Glock style pistols. Most of these have after market triggers of various brands. The DryFireMag worked in every one of them. The adjustable trigger allows you to tune the DryFireMag to each pistol with the turn of an Allen key.

The Red Gun Project

I wanted an inert red demonstration gun for teaching, but I didn’t want to spend the money and do an FFL transfer to buy a Glock 17P. So, I bought a Poly80 glock style frame on sale. I had an extra OEM slide so I put a red Mako Group Snap-On TactiSkin Slide Cover. The different frame and red cover made it clear this was not an ordinary Glock. I broke the tip of of the striker so that it was inert and I took the connector out so the trigger would move but not fire. My Red gun is perfect for demonstrating manipulations but it won’t dry fire. It is inert, the trigger is dead.  The DryFireMag is the perfect addition to this system.  I have fired this system hundreds and hundreds of times and I see the difference when I go to the range. I can also teach trigger pull and reset in the classroom without resetting the trigger.

The base plate is a bright blaze orange to let you easily distinguish it from any other magazine.  When your DryFireMag is not in your weapon, it’s stamp also clearly identifies it from any other magazine.

The DryFireMag is designed for dry fire practice. It is not designed or suggested for tactical reload practice.

Installing your DryFireMag to get ready for dry-fire practice is as simple and fast.

WARNING!!! Check to Be Sure the Chamber Is Empty Before Inserting the DryFireMag!!!

  1.  Make sure your weapon is clear of ammo.
  2.  Rack the slide to set the firing pin.
  3.  Insert the DryFireMag™ completely into position. This might require a firm bump with the palm of your hand.
  4.  The first trigger pull will be heavy (releasing the firing pin and the DryFireMag™ )
  5.  It’s ready to Go! Realistic dry fire practice can now begin!

At $99, the DryFireMag is not a casual purchase. If will last for years and support tens of thousands of repetitions of safe dry practice. Every day I hear a story about a gun owner who shot their TV or put a round through a wall. How much is it worth to have an inert gun with a resetting adjustable practice trigger?

There are two models, one for small frame 9/40 Glocks and another for large frame 45/10 Glocks.
