State and Liberty Clothing: Athletic fit, performance fabric dress clothes

State and Liberty Clothing: Athletic fit, performance fabric dress clothes

I’m a big fan of the TV series Suits. The main character, Harvey Specter, is known for his confidence, tenacity and sometimes arrogance. Harvey does not worry about what others think of him, In fact, most of the time, he uses that negativity as an advantage against them. One common thread you’ll see through the whole series along with his air of confidence is the way he dresses, everything is the best of the best. Why? Because appearance matters.

In the first episode of the first season, after Harvey selects his legal assistant, he states the following. “People respond to how we’re dressed, so like it or not this is what you have to do.” He’s not wrong with that statement. Although it may sound stereotypical to judge people by what they wear, our society makes judgments within seconds based on your appearance, especially with interviews. You can usually learn a lot by what others wear, body language and overall confidence in their talking.

When it comes to men’s clothing, I prefer an athletic fit, as it looks more refined and just feels more comfortable to me. I cannot stand to wear regular fit or ‘baggy’ clothing. Finding truly athletic fitting clothing was a challenging road, but I have settled on a select few brands. To see what those brands are, check out my article on Dressing in Style while Retaining Mobility. One of those brands I rely on for shirts is State and Liberty.

From the State and Liberty website:

We founded State and Liberty because we could not find a dress shirt that fit our athletic build. After years of spending a fortune on custom shirts and tailoring costs, we decided to fix the problem ourselves. Off the rack dress shirts are made for the masses… “Slim Fit” dress shirts are way too tight in the upper body and “Standard Fit” shirts are too boxy.

We spent years researching hundreds of athletic body types and developed the perfect Athletic Fit. By providing more room in the upper body with an extremely tailored waist, our dress shirts cater to those with a v-shape body type. Darts in the back of the dress shirt pull in the excess fabric creating a fit that rewards those men that take care of their bodies.

The days of ripping through your elbows and back seam are over. Our shirts have a ridiculous amount of stretch allowing you to wear a nice tailored fit without sacrificing comfort.

Our dress shirts are moisture-wicking and extremely lightweight. We stole all the properties of your favorite workout shirt and created a professional looking dress shirt. Our innovated hidden button keeps your collars standing tall and crisp when you’re not wearing a tie. Easily unfasten the button and you have a standard semi-spread collar that looks great with a tie.

Our shirts are wrinkle-free, machine washable, and dry in about 20 minutes. The days of weekly trips to the dry cleaner, ironing, and traveling with clunky suit bags are over.
