For 2018 Outdoor Life grouped riflescopes into two categories: versatility and long-range shooting. The SIERRA3BDX riflescope was tested in the versatility category and assessed on ergonomics, looks, and suitability for the task the riflescope was intended to tackle. Evaluators mounted the SIERRA3BDX riflescope and repeatedly tested it for aim and return to zero. The SIERRA3BDX riflescope was the recipient of the following awards from Outdoor Life:
Outdoor Life “Editor’s Choice” was awarded to the SIERRA3BDX riflescope for outscoring the competition on innovation and utility as, the “smart, svelte, and surprisingly affordable BDX system, SIG has cracked the code on incorporating rangefinding while maintaining the dimensions of a traditional riflescope.”
Outdoor Life “Great Buy” was awarded to the SIERRA3BDX for receiving the highest value score amongst riflescopes for, “bringing the BDX to market at a price that’s within reach of many hunters and shooters.”

The SIERRA3BDX riflescopes are available in 3.5-10x42mm, 4.5-14x44mm, 4.5-14x50mm, and 6.5-20x52mm, and have the look, feel, weight, and size of traditional riflescopes.
