I received a great new holster for review the other day. It is the Tempest Comfort Concealed Carry Series IWB holster manufactured by Crossfire. As stated it is an IWB (inside the waist band) holster made from 1680 ballistic weight memory foam fabric.
This is my first time using an IWB holster. My normal carry holster is either an OWB (outside the waist band) or shoulder holster. The Crossfire is a very well-constructed holster with a clip that will work with or without a belt. The holster retains an open profile, also known as a 3-D holster cavity that allows for easier holstering. The back panel is a breathable comfort mesh and keeps your firearm from contacting your body.
Here are details of the holster.
• Designed to be very comfortable to wear for extended lengths of time.
• Padded neck riser keeps your firearm from touching your body.
• Fits inside the waist band (IWB) with an exterior pant clip.
• New “3-D” Holster design will not collapse when the pistol is removed from the holster.
• Memory-type foam laminate technology.
• 1680 denier Ballistic Nylon fabric; durable and retains its shape.
• Extremely thin and concealable.
This particular Tempest holster is designed for semi-auto pistols in the 3”-3.5” size. The 1911 I am carrying is an RIA Compact 3.5” with rail chambered in 45ACP and it fits very well. This holster will fit a wide range of Compact style semi-autos and holds them very securely.
As stated above this is my first time using an IWB holster and I found it to be very comfortable and very concealable. It takes a bit of getting use to but gradually grows on you with use. Drawing and re-holstering the firearm was easy enough and the 3-D design of the holster allows for easy holstering due to the holster not closing up when the firearm is removed.
The back panel is a breathable comfort mesh and when in contact with the body is comfortable and does not promote sweating. Again, I found it to be a real comfortable holster and very concealable and with no printing even under a T-shirt. All in all I found this holster to be a very nice addition to my carry options and after carrying OWB all the time I can see where the IWB holsters are popular.
I can definitely recommend this holster and the various other holster options available. Please check out their website for all of their great products. www.CrossFireGear.com
