MK12 MOD Awesome SPR Rifle

Channels MK12 MOD Awesome (Top), True MK12 MOD 1 (Bottom)

The MK12 SPR has inspired a plethora of 18″, precision AR platforms throughout the black rifle community, each iteration borrowing from the original concept.  What began as  a lightweight, DMR (designated marksman rifle) utilized by various special forces, has evolved into an almost cult like genre of the AR-15 platform.

There is something absolutely captivating about its design and concept.  Here we have the apex, the zenith of the AR-15 platforms ballistic capabilities.  The MK12 has the ability to send the 5.56×45 NATO round (specifically the MK262 Cartridge), to is farthest reaches with the utmost accuracy.
MK12 MOD 0 In Theater
Recently, members that make up the core community here on the channel have, become somewhat dedicated to the perfection of this rifles concept.  Certain members have designed a build loosly patterned after the original design while some are abiding by the original specifications and setting out on a literal, museum “Clone Build” (not yet completed).
Most recently, we put together what some have termed, an ideal MK12 SPR inspired setup, using the below build list:
  • VLTOR MUR Upper
  • CENTURION MK12 SPR BARREL
  • BCM BCG
  • GUNFIGHTER CHARGING HANDLE
  • SPRINCO EXTRACTOR SPRING
  • AAC FLASH HIDER
  • GEISSELE GAS BLOCK
  • GEISSELE MK4 15″ RAIL
  • BCM LOWER RECEIVER WITH H BUFFER
  • GEISSELE SSA-E TRIGGER
  • BCM GRIP
  • B5 SYSTEMS SOPMOD STOCK
  • MAGPUL MBUS (OFFSET)
  • BURRIS PEPR MOUNT
  • VORTEX PST EBR MRAD RETICLE 2.5-10
  • UTG 8-12″ BIPOD QD
  • BURRIS PEPR MOUNT

Money was saved in certain areas, such as the bipod for example, as well as the mount for the scope, however at the end of the day, this rifle turned out exceptionally well.  The overall precision accuracy and reliability was most impressive.

After completing two SPR MK12 inspired builds within the last 2 months, we have found that using the VLTOR MUR upper, married to a high end precision SPR profile 18″ Stainless barrel, a Geissele SSA-E trigger, and mid to high end glass, delivers a superb firearm.
Enjoy the video below, featuring day one of this latest build and standby for further SPR and MK12 themed content as we work to bring a MK12 MOD 1 Clone as well as a MK12 MOD H in 6.8 SPC II to the channel.
