American Tactical M1911 Military: 70 Series Style

May 10, 2018 by Graham Baates Leave a Comment

American Tactical M1911 Military

The 1911 market is awash with options which can make it easy both to find exactly what you’re looking for and easy to get lost trying to pick one.  American Tactical M1911 Military stands out from the pack.

In March we saw Inland’s 1911 A1 Government which offered all the looks of a G.I. style 1911, roll marks included.  This month we’re taking a look at American Tactical’s option; the M1911 Military.American Tactical M1911 Military: 70 Series Style

With an MSRP of $449.95 and street price below $400 at times, this handsome offering is plenty attractive to those looking for a 1911 that won’t break the bank.  The purists will appreciate that it is a true 70’s series.  Aside from a few touches, the exterior of the gun is all business and includes handsome mahogany grips.  Sights, safety, hammer, grip safety, and trigger shoe are all in G.I. fashion.  The all-steel construction puts good heft in the hand and makes for smoother shooting.  Full specifications can be seen below.

Though the low asking price may be deceiving the fit and finish on the ATI meets or exceeds several more expensive models we’ve tested in the past.   All edges were clean with nary a tool mark to be found on the exterior of the gun.  The absence of checkering on the front strap made for a comfortable grip while handling on the range as the mahogany grips filled the hand nicely.

As a first 1911 or fifth the M1911 Military model from American Tactical certainly outperforms its price bracket.  It’s no wonder their website often lists them as out of stock.
