I said it once, and I’ll say it again, when Triple Aught Design puts out gear… it’s a must to have. If you read my post on the Triple Aught Design (TAD) Spectre 22L pack, you may have noticed my mention of using Control Panels to create mission ready gear based on needs and objectives. Control panels are modular organization platforms that will transform the way you pack and access your gear. Built to give you the flexibility to organize, orient, and swap gear load-outs to support changing mission profiles. TAD’s Control Panel 1 provides consistent orientation, rapid access, and easy deployment for PALS/MOLLE-compatible or Velcro pouches and accessories. If you have a TAD pack, you will want to have this Control Panel to make the most efficient use of all the tie downs and various linkage systems out there.
The CP-1 can also be used separately with other TAD packs, or alone attached to the back of the passenger seat for quick access to gear and is easily moved from pack to action ready. I have set mine up for surveillance activities with two hard body cases to support electronics, optics, and/or telephoto lenses. Having gear readily available on the back of my passenger seat allows for changing lenses, electronics, and access to a light source, all of which can be rapidly attached to my TAD pack for potential on-foot movement. If you are loaded out for a mission where you will need access to ammunition and magazines, the CP-1 can be configured as a Vehicle Rapid Deployment Kit; placed on the back or front of seats, that can easily be transferred to an assault pack.
Let’s not forget to talk about how durable this panel is and some of the key features. Made with 100% Denier Invista ™ Cordura ®, which is well-known throughout the outdoors and travel industries for making hardy long-lasting products that can take a beating. PALS 1” Nylon webbing added to one side 6×6 and zippered mesh pockets; to be able to see what you are storing in there, and Velcro holders to attach it to something or hold more gear on the other side. I like the administrative side of the panel to hold items such as pens, notepads, USB sticks, or memory cards for the camera quickly accessible and easily identified. It could also be used to hold your diplomatic immunity cards, or other IDs to get you out of trouble.
