The Buck mini-knife: A little knife that does what it needs to do!

The Buck mini-knife: A little knife a that does what it needs to do!

The PakLite Skinner

Not every knife that you carry for “Tactical” or Tacticool” purposes has to be labeled a “Tactical Knife.” What did we old timers do before all of these terms were used? We used common sense to find every day carry type equipment even if it was not labeled “Tactical.”

I found these little Buck knives years ago and used them as complimentary gifts for the students who I taught at a knife defense and utilization seminar I taught for military and law enforcement personnel.

I was searching for a small, fixed bladed knife; I do not care for folding knives except as strictly utility knives and not combat weapons (see my previous article about fixed blades versus folders).

I wanted to show my students at the seminar that you can find an easily carried and compact fix bladed knife and then actually give them one to take back with them. These knives are very inexpensive and will last a lifetime. With a less than 3-inch blade length they can be pocket carried or hung around your neck, or even carried in a boot.

The knife has a single-edged blade (which is not my preference – a double-edged blade is preferred) however, it is still an excellent one piece and virtually unbreakable potential fighting knife.

I do recommend wrapping a non-slip surface around the skeletonized handle such as paracord or friction tape. When bodily fluids get on a smooth surface your grip on the knife’s handle will be severely compromised.

I have carried one of these mini knives for several years now and found it to be very unobtrusive yet comforting to know it is there if I need it as a defensive weapon.

I find it difficult to find high quality mini fixed bladed combat knives so when I found this mini buck knife I grabbed it, and I would recommend that you consider buying and carrying one as well.
