SOG Enters the Modern Slipjoint Category with the Terminus

SOG Enters the Modern Slipjoint Category with the Terminus

SOG, known for its tactical roots, is continuing to pursue unexpected product categories. This time they’re doing it with the new for 2017 Terminus slipjoint knife. Like with the Baton multitool series, SOG built some clever engineering into its deceptively simple package.

The new knife features a G-10 handle, deep carry clip, and 3-inch CTS-BD1 clip point blade that rides on an unusual mechanism. Traditional slipjoints usually employ a backspring construction to hold the blade in the open position. But to achieve a flow-through construction and keep the weight under 3 ounces, SOG ditched the backspring in favor of a pin resting on the blade tang.

The Terminus is one in just a handful of slipjoints the company has ever made. Currently the Micron is the only other folder in their lineup without a lock. With a much larger blade and a more capable steel, the Terminus is better suited to fill an EDC role. The knife can still be carried in the urban jungle or jurisdictions with strict knife laws.
