Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger | Portable Power

February 1, 2017 by Isaiah Burkhart 2 Comments

Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger | Portable Power

Since 2009, Goal Zero has been changing the way people get power to their electronics and homes in the backcountry. The Flip 10 Recharger follows this tradition in a compact and lightweight package. This small device holds a single charge for your smartphone, fitness tracker, rechargeable headlamp, or GPS watch. The Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand or just about anywhere, so it takes up minimal space.

I have been using the Goal Zero Flip 10 every day now for the last four weeks, and it ensures that I never have a dead smartphone. The Flip 10 plugs into the USB port on your computer, wall/car charger, or is compatible with the Goal Zero Nomad 7 Solar Panel. With the right accessories, like the Nomad, you can literally go anywhere without having to lose connectivity to your small electronic devices.

The Goal Zero Flip 10 has four LED lights to identify the power level left in the device. To check the power level, all you have to do is depress the mobile USB arm. To charge a device, you do have to use your existing device cable or do like I did—get a short 12″ cord that keeps the package low profile and easy to stash in just about any pocket.

With the advent of new smartphones that can go 36-72 hours without a charge, this device will allow you to double that figure. While plugged into a USB-compatible device, the entire unit will charge in 2.5 hours. If using the Nomad 7 Solar Panel, the device will charge fully in between 2.5 and 5 hours, depending on how much direct sunlight is available.Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger | Portable PowerInside the Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger is a Lithium-Ion NMC. This is similar to the type of battery used for power tools and powertrains in vehicles. The device weighs in at 2.5 ounces or 70 grams, and measures only 3.6 x 0.75 x 0.75 inches. At an MSRP of $29.99, anyone should be able to afford the benefits of the Flip 10.

Bottom line:

The Goal Zero Flip 10 Recharger is a go-anywhere piece of gear that everyone should have on hand. Long past are the days of dead handheld electronics. With the Flip 10, you can recharge any small electronic device, anywhere—whether road-tripping, riding a bike, or backpacking through the wilderness. This item has become a staple in my back pocket, and it should serve you well, too.
