Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case Review

April 21, 2022 by Allia Luzong Leave a Comment

Phone cases aren’t typically one of the things that come to mind when we think of tactical gear, but there are companies out there that manufacture what they call “tactical phone cases.” These tactical phone cases are supposedly stronger, more shock-proof, and can transform into Optimus Prime. Okay, that last part is a joke but considering how many tactical phone cases promise features that are too good to be true, some of them may as well say it.

The Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case isn’t one of those phone cases. This tactical phone case does exactly what it’s advertised to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

What Are We Looking For In A Tactical Phone Case?

Juggernaut header image

Tactical phone cases tend to be pricier and come with additional features that your regular jelly case doesn’t have. Some of them, like the SLXtreme , come with an integrated battery pack to help keep you connected at all times. But what really sets a tactical phone case apart from regular cases is that it meets MIL-STD-810G 516.6 standards.

MIL-STD-810G 516.6 is just one of many procedures conducted on phone cases. Other procedures are as follows:

  • Procedure I-Functional Shock
  • Procedure II-Material to be packaged
  • Procedure III-Fragility
  • Procedure IV-Transit Drop
  • Procedure V-Crash Hazard Shock Test
  • Procedure VI-Bench Handling
  • Procedure VI-Pendulum Impact
  • Procedure VIII-Catapult Launch/ Arrested Landing

A tactical phone case has to pass ML-STD 810G-516.6 to be advertised as military-grade.

According to Juggernaut, their IMPCT tactical phone cases for the Galaxy S9 and iPhone 11 are certified to meet US Military MIL-810G standards.

Is the Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case Any Good?

Juggernaut phone case specs

The Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case is advertised as Juggernaut’s most compact design and it shows. This phone case is much thinner and nowhere near as bulky looking as other phone cases on the market. It’s sleek and perfect for modern phones.

Materials

The Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case incorporates several materials into its design to help keep your phone safe in any situation.

  • Shock dampening foam.
  • Flexible elastomer covers.
  • U.S. Military grade polymer plastic.

All of the materials that went into making this phone case were obviously chosen to ensure the product’s durability. While Juggernaut doesn’t exactly tell us what kind of foam is on the interior of the phone case, it’s thick, springy, and covers the center part of your phone’s back to absorb and distribute any force exerted on your phone on impact.

The elastomer covers at the top and bottom of the phone make them easy to remove and re-attach.

Most of the phone case is made of U.S Military grade polymer plastic that Juggernaut claims is “virtually indestructible.” While we haven’t tried destroying one, so far, it looks like the polymer does a great job of protecting your phone from drops and harsh environmental conditions.

Features

Here’s a quick look at all the features of the Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case.

  • Snap-on top cover.
  • Elastomer dust cover.
  • Made to survive 2-meter drops.
  • Fits all Juggernaut mounts.
  • Raised power and volume buttons.

Juggernaut has several useful phone mounts for sale so it’s great to know that their IMPCT cases are compatible with each one. With this tactical phone case, you won’t have to worry about switching to a popular phone case model just to get it to fit a mount.

The case’s raised power and volume buttons make it easy to use. It might be hard to think of what difference that makes right off the bat, but in an era of increasingly flat and slender phones, it’s becoming harder to tell by touch where these buttons are. Using the IMPCT case means you don’t have to pull your phone out and stare at its edges just to find out where the buttons are.

The snap-on top cover and elastomer dust cover both do a great job of protecting your phone’s openings from dust and water. However, it’s disappointing that the phone case isn’t designed to be waterproof on its own. It’s intended for environmentally sealed devices, which is just a fancy way of saying your phone should already be waterproof out of the box.

If you can forgive that one drawback, though, this is generally a great phone for people who work in harsh environments, have active hobbies, or tend to drop their phones a lot.

Final Thoughts

Juggernaut phone case features

When it comes to tactical phone cases for recent phone models, the Juggernaut IMPCT Tactical Phone Case is as good as it gets. It’s got everything you want from a tactical phone case except for being waterproof. That said, since both of the phones this case is made for are water-resistant, it’s not like it has to be.

If you’re interested in getting your own tactical phone case, you can get the Juggernaut IMPACT Tactical Phone Case for the iPhone 11 and for the Samsung Galaxy S9.
