Nikon’s New FX1000: First Focal Plane, Feature Heavy

May 18, 2018 by Mark Miller Leave a Comment

Watch as long-range YouTuber Highjak86 unboxes the new Nikon Black FX1000.  An evolution of the BLACK X1000 that won Optic of the Year on TheArmsGuide last year.  Upgrades to the Nikon Black FX1000 include laser etched turret markings including direction markings that are apparent to the shooter while on the rifle.  Why hasn’t that been done in the past?  Turrets also feature a zero stop and of course we can’t skip over the fact that this is a first-focal-plane scope!

Putting the reticle on the first focal plane means that your reticle zooms in an out when you do.  No more guessing if the optic’s magnification is at the right spot for the reticle or needing to zoom nearly all the way in to measure.  The proportions are always right.  All of this on a scope that retails safely under a grand.  Get a closer look in the Highjak86 video below.

Try to find those features, price, warranty and quality in other scopes and you will quickly find yourself also looking through couch cushions for more money.

The Nikon Black FX1000 comes in a 4-16x or 6-24x with an MOA or MRAD reticle.  4-16x models have the option of illuminated or non illuminated reticles.

Specs for the 4-16 model are shown below as taken directly from the Nikon Back FX1000 Product page

  • Magnification: 4 -16x
  • Objective Diameter: 50 mm
  • Tube Diameter: 30mm
  • Weight: 23.3oz
  • Overall Length: 14.8  in
  • Waterproof/Fogproof: Yes
  • Matte Finish: Yes

We have been fans of the Black line including the FORCE 1000 and X1000 and look forward to getting our hands on the Nikon Black FX1000.  Writer Graham Baates used an X1000 when he shot the group of a lifetime.  We want to know in the comments below, which of the three Nikon’s we’ve shown are your favorite?
