In the 1970’s, terrorist kidnappings were widely feared and personal security teams were deployed by governments and the wealthy to protect likely kidnappees. The guys at H&K wanted to sell the MP-5 to these teams, but had to come up with a discreet way to carry it around. They built a polymer and aluminum brief case which held an HK MP-5K submachine gun. It was awkward to shoot and clumsy to reload, but it did have a place in executive protection. In modern times, it is less subtle than a fanny pack and stands out more than it conceals unless you are disguised as a copy machine repairman.
