Three New Emerson Knives: Bulldog, Patriot, & ETAK

Three New Emerson Knives: Bulldog, Patriot, & ETAK - TheArmsGuide.com

If you like blades, you’re probably going to want to check out the new Emerson knives releasing for 2014.

This year, Emerson launched several new knife projects, including collaboration blades selling through Kershaw, and three new folders, the Bulldog, the Patriot, and the ETAK. Here’s a little more info on each of the new folders available from Emerson Knives.

Bulldog

The Bulldog‘s 154 CM blade sports either the classic Emerson stone-washed finish or Black-T (black teflon) finish. The blade shape is a stout tanto, with the option of plain edge or partial serrated. Typical of an Emerson knife, the Bulldog’s blade opens by using the wide thumb disk, or handy “wave” catch and locks in place with a titanium liner lock. Also in line with the Emerson Knives standard, this folder features G10 grip scales. The butt of this knife has a tip-up oriented pocket clip and a wide lanyard hole. According to the Emerson Knives website, the MSRP for the Bulldog is $231.

Patriot

From speaking with the folks at Emerson Knives, you can tell the Patriot is one folder in which they are particularly proud. Somewhat reminiscent of the Commander, the Patriot’s 154 CM blade has a subtle wave to the belly. Like the Bulldog, this folder is offered with either plain or serrated edge, with the “wave” opening mechanism (and thumb disk). The standard run of Patriot knives has G10 scales; however, Emerson Knives has done something special with this knife for a limited edition run. The limited edition Patriot will feature grip scales cut from oak that grew on George Washington’s own Mount Vernon. A limited edition Patriot owner will also receive a custom die struck coin, and a map of Mount Vernon with the location of the oak used for the grips marked (and a letter of authenticity for verification). While supplies last (there’s a waiting list on the Emerson Knives website), the MSRP for the Special Edition George Washington Wood Patriot is $500. The standard model Patriot’s MSRP is set at $260.

ETAK

The Emerson Tactical Assault Knife, or ETAK, was designed with hard use in mind. Emerson offers this particular folder in two styles: the ETAK-A or ETAK-B. The difference is in the blade shape; the ETAK-A uses a 154 CM clip point blade while the ETAK-B features a tanto shaped 154 CM blade (either can be purchased with combo or plain edges, and stone washed or black finishes). Both folders feature ergonomic G-10 scaled grips (available in either black or tan), which enclose sturdy titanium liners. The grips each end with a wide lanyard loop at at an angle to the squared butt. As with their folding Emerson Knives brethren, both ETAK models are liner locked and include both the wave and thumb disk opening mechanisms. Both ETAK knives have a starting MSRP of $250.
