Installing the TCM rifle scope mount from DIP Inc

DIP Inc. is making a new scope mount for the TCM rifle. The mount is made from 6060 aluminum bar stock, adds only .30” in height and fastens to the receiver with the 6 supplied set screws. This mount allows you to choose a ring selection between a Weaver and Picatinny. Very large selection to choose from. The mount, set screws and instructions are included so you will need the proper size bit, purple Loctite and an inch pound torque wrench if you want to torque to the set specs of 6 to 8 inch pounds.

To get started first and foremost, as with any firearm please make sure the firearm is not loaded. Remove magazine and check chamber. For the installation you will need to remove the bolt handle. On some TCM rifles the set screw at front of receiver will need to be shortened just a very small amount so the groove in the bottom of the mount can slide over the screw. I am not sure of the serial number range but on some of I think the earlier rifles the set screw is not as high and the mount will slide on OK. My rifle required that I shorten the screw just a bit. I used my Dremel and a sanding pad to do it. I know……….a Dremel near a firearm is not good unless you are a qualified gunsmith but all I was doing was shaving a bit from the screw. A small file can also be used, just go slow and check after a few passes as you do not want to take more off than necessary as it needs to stay in the groove.

Carefully slide the mount onto the grip rails until it stops at the front receiver screw making sure that the cut-out on the mount is over the receiver cut-out. Install and tighten the single set screws right in front and rear of receiver cut-out first and then install the other 4 in a criss-cross pattern using the purple Loctite and torque wrench if you have one available. If not do not over tighten the set screws.

Reinstall the bolt and proceed to install your choice of rings and scope. Enjoy and as always, shoot safe.
