I’m happy to introduce The Arms Guide’s newest contributor, Steve Durant. I first discovered Steve in the way I’ve met many of my firearms enthusiast friends, that is, through YouTube. Steve creates videos about the shooting sports, firearms, and gun gear for his channel, MakingMasterClass.
Like many of us firearms enthusiasts, Steve was first introduced to the gun world by his father. He first taught Steve the basics of marksmanship at eight years old with a BB. By age twelve, he started shooting small caliber rifles, and shotguns, and has been a shooting sports enthusiast ever since. He’s now 42, and a two year veteran in the competition shooting sports. He regularly competes in IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge, as well as some Carbine matches. He founded the competitive shooting team, Team Fight or Flight Tactical in 2012, which has since grown to four members.
In addition to his enthusiasm for the world of firearms, Steve also has a background in martial arts, including a few professional fights and extensive amateur experience in MMA and boxing. This experience, and the training he has received has provided him the opportunity to teach self defense to various military and law enforcement personnel, as well as civilians.
He currently resides in Florida with his lovely wife, Dawn, and their two teenage children. Welcome to the TAG Team, Steve!
If you have any questions about helping out the TAG Team (whether you’re considering becoming a writer for The Arms Guide, or just want to share your ideas or suggestions), feel free to let us know through The Arms Guide Comms Check.
