CTK Precision’s P3 Ultimate Target Stand: Practical Portable Perfection

When they call the P3 the “Ultimate Target Stand” it is not hyperbole. This collapsible wonder gives shooters a stable target stand that can be adjusted to accommodate any paper or cardboard targets of virtually any size. It sets up and breaks down in seconds, with no tools required.

I can not over state how cool the P3 Ultimate Target Stand really is. When I ordered it, I expected a mundane device which would hold a target. The P3 holds every target and folds into a USPS Priority Mail box.

Parts Included:

    • 2 Target Stand Support Legs
    • 2 Target Stand Support Braces
    • 4 Knobs
    • 4 Large Paper Target Clips

When you first see it, you wonder why other target stands are so big. This is what you get when you open the box:

Looks simple, it is. The design is flexible and elegant. Wooden furring strips (not included, yet cheap and readily available at any place that sells lumber stores) hold target sheets. Change the size of the furring strips, change the target size with virtually no limits. There is even an adapter to hang bottles or other swinging targets.

I have had a P3 Target Stand for three months now. I never go shooting without it. I love steel targets, but I don’t always carry them because of weight, bulk and range restrictions. The CTK Precision P3 folds down to nothing. I can get furring strips from stray signs after elections and home sales. It uses any target, is steady in the wind. I have truly never seen anything like it.

P3 Ultimate Target Stand Features:

  • Innovative clamping plates apply pressure to the furring strips over a large area, providing a firm grip and hold on the furring strips (not provided).
  • The 24″ angled legs provide a stable 4 point stance allowing the stand to be set up on uneven terrain.
  • The legs can be pushed into the ground to stabilize the stand without the need for a set of stakes.
  • The height of the main beam provides 3.5″ of clearance for uneven terrain, and is high enough to make use of sandbags as ballast if the ground is too hard to push the legs into.
  • Width easily adjusts. With a minimum width of 5″, it can handle just about any paper or cardboard target, from standard copy paper and up. And, there is no need for a target backer.
  • Sets up and breaks down in seconds. With large, easy to use knobs, there is no need for any tools. All you have to do is provide the furring strips.
  • Robust construction. Made from 14 gauge tubing and 3/8″ rod, it is a durable unit and has an equally durable E-coat finish.
  • Made in the USA.

This video provides an overview and range demo of the P3 Ultimate Target Stand and the Bottle Holder Add-On.

I have been to many places with fixed target stands which do not fit my targets requiring some kind of duct tape improvisation which may fail in mid training session. The height and width are easily adjustable by slipping the support braces and/or the clips. You can even use clips to put a furring strip on top to hang swinging targets. Pull out the wood and it collapses to nothing for transport and storage.

You can get your very own target stand HERE for $60.00

Target stands may not seem like high speed gear, but without them, there is no high speed training. This is the best value in training anywhere.

About CTK Precision in their own words:

Hi! My name is Curt Knitt and I’m an avid shooter. I looked far and wide for a gun vise that would serve my demanding needs. The vises on the market today just didn’t have the long term reliability or additional features I was looking for. What’s a guy supposed to do in a situation like that?

Well, I built my own gun vise and set it up in the shop. Soon afterwards the fellas started fighting over who got to use it first!  It was pretty apparent that I wasn’t the only one who wanted an ‘ultimate’ gun vise. After two redesigns the P3 Ultimate Gun Vise was complete and now it is available for everyone!

As the years have gone by, we have added several products to our line of shooting equipment and gun accessories:
