Industry Spotlight: MCARBO for Affordable Upgrade Parts

Who or what is MCARBO ? and why exactly are they being featured here on the site as out industry spotlight segment ? Well MCARBO is a Veteran Owned and operated company that actually designs and makes their own parts, they aren’t just a parts shucking middle man. The St. Petersburg, Florida based company is headed by company president Chris Nelson who’s background among other things includes being a 18C Special Forces Engineer Sergeant and a Veteran of the war in Iraq. While assigned to 10th Special Forces Group, Ft Carson, Colorado in  C Co 2/10 SFG(A) he deployed several more times over the next three years as part of ODA 0235. So in other words Chris and his new team mates at MCARBO know what works, and what doesn’t work in tough situations.

What they make & why it matters ?

I first was introduced to MCARBO when I was looking for parts for my new Kel Tec Sub 2000 rifle and saw that the company produces a huge array up affordable upgrade parts for one of the hardest to find and affordable pistol caliber carbines on the market. The Kel Tac is amazingly fun but does suffer from sub standard trigger pull and a few plastic parts that should be made of aluminum. MCARBO shockingly enough also thought about this and saw and opening in the market and ran with it. They went on to design and manufacture an entire line of accessories and upgrade parts for the rifle that has been selling at an alarming rate. Their kit drops the trigger pull of the Sub 2000 from 9+ lbs to almost half as much. Kel-Tec replacement parts isn’t all they make though.

Upgrades for Marlins and Other Guns

The Marlin Model 60 and Model 795 are firearms that have been produced in excess of 11 million rifles over the last 50 some years, which means many of those rifles are in need of refreshing. MCARBO again saw the market and addressed it and offers a wide array of replacement and upgrade parts for both rifles. Improved triggers, springs, and extractors just to name a few of the parts that usually need replacing after decades of use. In total there are more than a dozen different rifles and shotguns that MCARBO currently makes products for, but that list is growing more each month it seems. Kel-Tec however remains one of the companies best in terms of aftermarket support.

Company Motto & Who MCARBO Supports

The company motto of MCARBO is Precision Parts, Improved Accuracy, Superior Riflemen and it’s more than just a slogan to Chris and his team, it’s who they are. The parts, accessories and professionalism that they company shows with their products AND their support after the consumer has purchased the parts is important to note. Also a huge part of the company is that Chris employs Veterans at his company and actively donates part of the proceeds of every sale to The Green Beret Foundation to help support fellow Green Berets as well as their families. That’s putting your money where your mouth is in a major way. There is another aspect that shows the MCARBO Brotherhood and what being part of something greater than yourself is all about, and that is the companies offer of special pricing for a select group of individuals and that list isn’t just Active Duty Military. There are plenty of people they consider part of the growing brotherhood, we have included this list straight from the company’s web site.

  • Members of the Military Reserves or National Guard
  • Retired or Honorably Discharged Military

We encourage our readers to support small American based small businesses, and if that small business is Veteran or First Responder Owned, even better. The world of the firearms industry isn’t as big as we might think, but it’s growing more each year. Our collective efforts to profile younger businesses is in our opinion necessary if we are going to see our hobby of the shooting sports continue to grow stronger over the next few years. We hope you enjoy this look at MCARBO, and if you have any questions feel free to check them out at www.mcarbo.com, and if you know of any small businesses in the firearms community drop us a line and let us know.
