Caracal EF Pistol : Shot Show

The Caracal EF pistol was one of the centerpieces of Caracal USA booth this year at SHOT Show 2017. The booth #2829 is located on the first floor of the Sands Convention Center, for those of you reading this while at SHOT Show walk in the front door and turn left. The booth is located almost in the center of the first floor of the main area.

The EF model pistol is scheduled to be fully released in the third quarter of 2017 and is an American built pistol made in conjunction with Wilcox Industries. According to Caracal USA Director of Marketing Jae Gillentine the pistol has significant upgrades over older models of Caracal F model pistols.

“The enhanced F is unique because of its low-profile, reduced mass slide, intuitive grip and proprietary trigger system. These features and other elements combine to provide a reliable handgun that gets shooters on target and will hold up to the rigors of tough environments.”

The pistol features what the company calls a “multifunction unit” which houses the trigger shoe, trigger safety, and the trigger bar all in a sealed unit. The MFU also has a full length steel guide system to enhance durability and increase the rigidity of the area for a prolonged service life. The staff at the booth were eager to show us this system and how easy it is to disassemble and service by the end user.

Caracal’s Quick Sight System

The most eye catching and interesting feature on the Caracal Enhanced F (EF) pistol is what the company is calling the Quick Sight System, a proprietary sight system. In the Caracal EF pistol the rear sight is set before the ejection port of the slide, a huge break from traditional sight systems. I thought it was going to be a bit odd to use, but after a few tries the sight picture feels much more natural than I thought it would. Caracal is putting a great deal of research and testing into this system since this pistol doesn’t hit the market until until later in 2017. Some of the other specifications on the Caracal EF pistol are below.

  • 9×19 Caliber
