AlumaGrips Precision Handgun Grips: Metal is Better

AlumaGrips starts with T-6 aircraft aluminum, then they use precision CNC machining to assure precise fit and finish.  Alumagrips are designed to fit the whole spectrum of handguns. They cover the entire range 1911s: Full Size Colt 1911, Commander Size 1911, Officers Model style and most Colt clones, such as Kimber, Springfield Armory, and a custom pistol smiths are all there. They offer the strength and durability of an aluminum grip with checkering to add stability to any shooter’s grip.

Several years ago, I bought a police return a Kimber Custom TLE/RL II. I love the gun, it shoots great  with a nice trigger and night sights. What I didn’t like was the Kimber’s rubber grips. I like the feel of rubber grips when they are new, but they soon become sticky like a two year old’s toys and the don’t grip well when wet.

When I found the Alumgrip Grater in olive gray I knew that they were the solution to my problems and the last step to making my Kimber the perfect gun for me. The name comes from an old school cheese grater! Installation went smoothly, the grips fit perfectly and dropped right on. I used the factory screws and bushings and a few drops of Loctite later they were installed and solid.

At the range, things could not have gone better. Now I have the purchase I need to control the gun through recoil. These grips stick your hands where they belong.

The guys at Alumagrip designed the Grater Grip texture for shooters that want an aggressive purchase hand to grip. Perfect for use with gloves, the Grater is the has the roughest grip on the market. The Grater Grip contour is created by the special shape of the tool used to machine the grooves. The center line of the troughs is angled giving a different look from standard checkering.

The Grater texture is available for the 1911 style grips full size, standard thickness with or without the ambidextrous option as well as the square bottom to interface with a S&A magazine well or the bevel bottom with the MSP exposed. Standard colors are black, silver and olive gray.
