The story of Lone Survivor is one that resonates with veterans of all services. Whether you’ve read the book heard the story from older vets, or watched the movie. The story is one that connects vets in a solemn way. Axelson Tactical has become well known for producing a variety of rifles and handguns. Easily their most memorable rifles are the Memorial editions.
The Dietz and Axe rifles were made for the fallen team members of Operation Red Wings. They were based on the actual rifles used by the fallen SEALs and saying they were well made is a bit of an understatement. Axelson Tactical produced very few of the rifles, sometimes less than 99 of each rifle.
At SHOT show this week Axelson Tactical revealed the ‘Murph’. Lt. Michael Murphy lead the SEALs during Operation Red Wings, and was awarded the Medal Of Honor. The ‘Murph’ is the last of the rifles in the SEAL team series.
Is Axelson Tactical done building memorial rifles?
They could quit now, with their mission complete. However, it doesn’t seem they are quitting anytime soon. They have designed a Vietnam memorial rifle, and I certainly expect them to produce more memorial rifles in the future. This wasn’t confirmed, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
