The cause of virtually all misses is anticipation of recoil in various guises. The only way to beat anticipation? Dry Practice. It is no secret, we are big fans of dry firing around here. I am overjoyed to announce that Springfield Armory has sponsored a series of instructional videos from Rob Latham. We’re back for Episode 2 of Springfield’s new video series, Dry Fire Friday.

Today’s topic takes last week’s trigger-pull exercise to the next level:Â can you do it in a quarter-second?Â
Dry Fire Drill:Â Trigger Pulling
Drill Focus: Improve Speed
Drill Level:Â Â Intermediate
Drill Comments:  The goal is the same as last week – maintain the position of the gun without letting the trigger pull move the firearm. If you keep the gun still, you’ll hit what you’re shooting at. The added element this time? Learn to avoid misses when adding the speed factor – try the exercise out at one second and, if you’re up to it, a quarter-second.
Hone your skills – dry fire the above exercise from home to improve your speed and accuracy.
