Republicans on Capitol Hill last week introduced identical bills in the House and the Senate that aim to end federal regulation of suppressors.
I am always impressed by a well played acronym and the SHUSH Act doesn’t disappoint. The Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing Act, backed in the Senate by Sen Mike Lee of Utah and Mike Crapo of Idaho, and in the House by Iowa Congressman Steve King, would mandate that suppressors be treated the same as firearm accessories.
The usual suspects are already screaming that felons and prohibited persons will be able to buy suppressors under SHUSH. Because their possession of firearms or ammunition are still prohibited, this doesn’t seem like a big problem to me.
