Springfield Armory® and Action Target Giveaway Offers SAINT™ AR-15 Rifle and Popper Targets

One Of A Kind “PopperPalooza” Targets Shot By Team Springfield Pro Shooter Rob Leatham

GENESEO, IL, December 2, 2016 – Springfield Armory® and Action Target are pleased to announce a new giveaway offering a lucky winner a ready-to-go combination of a brand new SAINT™ AR-15 rifle and five Action Target PT Pepper Popper Targets. Contestants can enter the giveaway by visiting the Action Target Facebook page at www.facebook.com/actiontarget.

The Springfield Armory® SAINT™ AR-15 is built for defense and packs features valued by warriors into a carbine with a price point at a fraction of what one would expect. With an MSRP of just $899, the SAINT™ brings affordable reliability to the market. Featuring an optics ready flat-top design, the SAINT™ includes premium components like Bravo Company stock, hand guard, and combat-style pistol grip. Innovations like the Accu-Tite receiver tensioning system and exactingly fitted components make the SAINT™ a rock-solid self-defense platform. Nickle Boron-coated, micro-polished trigger components keep the right press weight for defensive use while presenting a smooth and crisp break. The 16-inch Chrome Moly Vanadium barrel with a 1:8-inch twist rate facilitates accuracy and longevity through hard use.

The Action Target Pepper Popper targets provided for this giveaway are not just off the shelf models; they have a unique story. To help support the launch of the Springfield Armory® SAINT™ AR-15 rifle, the Action Target team provided PT Pepper Popper Targets for a new and bold shooting scenario – PopperPalooza (https://youtu.be/k96jFiFLHSk). Imagine 100 popper targets arrayed in front of Team Springfield™ Pro Shooter Rob Leatham equipped with a Springfield Armory® SAINT™ AR-15 and plenty of magazines loaded with Federal Premium .223 Remington frangible ammunition. The goal? Knock down the horde of targets with as few shots, and in as little time, as possible.

“We thought a unique way to show the industry that these rifles are made for heavy use was to create a challenging course of fire that would put as many rounds as possible through them in seconds, and that was the genesis of the PopperPalooza idea,” explained Springfield Armory® Director of Marketing Chad Dyer. “Now we’re pleased to offer some of those PopperPalooza targets and a brand new SAINT™ AR-15 rifle to a lucky winner.”

Action Target’s Pepper Popper targets add a reactive element to training scenarios, competition, or just plinking for fun. The PT Pepper Popper is designed to fall backward when hit with a satisfying clang, offering both visible and audible feedback of a successful shot.

“What would every shooter really like to do? How about the challenge of knocking down 100 steel popper targets with an AR-15?” asks Springfield Armory® Pro Shooter Rob Leatham. “I’ve never even tried it, so the opportunity to set up so many Action Target Pepper Poppers and give the brand new Springfield Armory® SAINT™ a workout was one I couldn’t pass up. I’ve never had more fun shooting a rifle than that!”

The PT Series Pepper Popper Targets feature a reversible steel plate to extend the usable life of the target. A 12-inch center of mass round area gives shooters an ideal aiming point. Bolt adjustments in the base allow shooters to adjust the power required to knock over a popper, so scenarios can be designed to require a single hit or multiple impacts to score. The 42-inch tall target weighs 43 pounds and rests atop a 13×28-inch steel base.

Action Target and Springfield Armory® will announce the giveaway winner at the 2017 SHOT Show in Las Vegas on January 20, 2017.

Created for the free and independent, Springfield Armory®’s SAINT™ represents the next generation of America’s personal defense rifle. Built with relentless dedication to reliability, it’s made to support the awesome responsibility that comes with defending one’s legacy.

About Springfield Armory®

“The First Name in American Firearms,” Springfield Armory® was founded in 1777, when George Washington ordered the creation of an armory to store ammunition and gun carriages during the American Revolution. In 1794, the armory began to manufacture muskets and spent the next 150 years supplying firearms for every major American conflict. The original armory closed in 1968. In 1974, the Reese family took ownership of the Springfield Armory® name and began making the M1A™ rifle. Today, Springfield Armory® develops many products loyal to the company’s heritage, like the 1911 pistol, while ensuring its future with innovative products, including the XD®, XD® Mod.2®, XD(M)® and XD-S® polymer pistols and now the new SAINT™ AR-15 rifle.
