I recently lost my father and have been going through his personal belongings for the past week. He was always one of the most prepared individuals I’ve known ever since I was a little kid. He ALWAYS had a knife or two on him. One of those knives that he always had in addition to his Swiss Army knife was the small SOG Key Knife. This smaller knife (about the size of a standard house key) had a permanent spot on his key chain that he clipped to his belt loop; it was a staple in his everyday carry.
Although this knife is not meant to be a primary knife or to be used for heavier jobs; it has its place. When you need quick access to a knife to open mail, a box or to simply cut some cordage; the SOG Key Knife excels at those tasks.
On the of features I really like about the key knife is the fact that it has a locking blade; to be more specific a traditional lock back blade. Once the knife is open and locked into place, to release it you just depress the lock which is located on the top of the key handle. A very simple and effective locking design.
