Sig Sauer, and more specifically, the P320, is on a roll these days. Earlier this year, the Army picked it as the winner of its XM17 Modular Handgun System program to find a new service gun. Now, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has followed suit by announcing it has chosen the striker-fired Sig Sauer P320 pistol as its official sidearm.
“After extensive testing, we selected the P320 in both 9mm and .40 and were impressed by its accuracy, reliability and modularity,” Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Commander Sol Linver said in a statement. “We were literally one week away from selecting a competitor’s pistol when Sig Law Enforcement Representative Tony Levatino visited us. We couldn’t be happier with our selection of the P320, and look forward to a long and rewarding relationship with Sig Sauer.”
First introduced in January 2014, the Sig Sauer P320 boasts an insane level of modularity and a clean, crisp trigger pull. According to the press release, the serialized trigger group is interchangeable, enabling the shooter to change the size and caliber of the pistol. Available in full size, carry, compact and subcompact frames, the P320’s grip frames are also divided into small, medium and large to accommodate shooters of any hand size.
