Outdoor Retailer 2017 | Black Diamond

Outdoor Retailer 2017 | Black Diamond

We started our day off today with a meeting at the Black Diamond booth. First off I want to say it was great meeting our rep in person and putting a face to all the emails. We have showcased several Black Diamond products in the past for a good reason….their products excel at their intended use. Black Diamond has been at this game for a long time and know what they are doing. It’s awesome to see their products being put into the hands of our military. No need for other ‘tactical’ companies to reinvent the wheel. Go to the guys who do it best; Black Diamond.

We took a look at several products new for this year and products coming in spring of 2018. One of the smaller but very impressive products was their lightweight carabiner. We have showcased the Neutrino carabiner in past articles, but the new Oz carabiner comes in weighing only 1 ounce! When holding the carabiner in your hand, it’s like there is nothing there and the best part is that it is still rated for climbing.

We also got to take a quick look at the new Creek Transit Series backpacks. These are smaller everyday carry type bags, but made with an extremely durable material.

From the Black Diamond website:

The Black Diamond Creek Transit 22 Pack is a modern commuter-style pack that provides sleek and functional storage for your daily gear. Built with a durable, waterproof shell fabric that offers the rugged toughness of our haulbags, the Creek Transit sports a zippered top lid with internal pocket storage, as well as an exterior-access laptop sleeve that secures a 13-inch computer. Padded shoulder straps and backpanel offer a comfortable carry whether you’re on two feet or two wheels, and haul-loop handles on the top are easy to grab.

Another product we got a quick look at is the ruggedized Storm Headlamp.

Our rugged, fully waterproof workhorse for foul conditions and big adventures, the Black Diamond Storm Headlamp now features 350 lumens of power and three different colored night vision modes. The redesigned lighting profile offers improved peripheral lighting for close-range activities like cooking, reading or sorting gear, and the Storm also features our Brightness Memory, which allows you to turn the light on and off at a chosen brightness without reverting back to full power. Eight different lighting modes allow for fully custom lighting in any situation, and our PowerTap Technology makes for instant brightness adjustments.

Finally we took at look at some of the outer shells that Black Diamond offers. Their line of shells are absolutely amazing and work extremely well. Black Diamond works closely with former Navy SEAL, Kyle Defoor who is now a firearms instructor for military, law enforcement and civilians.

Kyle is a strong believer in the Black Diamond apparel and gives them valuable feedback on how to take the product to the next level.

Stay tuned as we will be getting some of this badass gear in our hands to test and evaluate for you guys!
