Between the end of the Vietnam War and 9/11, the US Military found itself in only one major battle. It occurred in Mogadishu, Somalia, on October 3-4, 1993 as part of Operation Gothic Serpent, and is widely known through its portrayal in Black Hawk Down.
Commemorate the 25th anniversary of that battle that resulted in the ultimate sacrifice of 18 U.S. servicemen, including two Delta Force snipers who were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor. This Challenge honors the men of Task Force Ranger (Rangers Lead The Way!) – their courage and sacrifice on October 4, 1993 to achieve mission success, albeit at great cost.
To understand how and why, you can read the book and watch the movie, or you can do the Mogadishu Mile GORUCK Challenge, named after the final exfiltration movement of the troops on the ground.
