Golden Saber Bonded: Penetration and Consistency

May 4, 2018 by The Arms Guide Guest Writer Leave a Comment

I consider Remington Golden Saber hollow points to be excellent rounds for those serious about having rounds that are proven to perform reliably. With this, I feel that the Golden Saber Bonded is a natural progression in performance. Terminally, they still maintain good penetration, with the added benefit of continuing to perform  after passing through barriers. I believe that Golden Saber Bonded hollow points are the next step in the evolution of the Golden Saber line. If you find them, I would recommend getting some because they are rare in some calibers. You can expect the same recoil and velocities out of these rounds as the traditional Golden Saber loading.

Here is a link for all the stats for the traditional and Bonded Golden Sabers. There is a respectable selection of caliber options to choose from.

9mm- 124+P, 147

.40 cal- 165, 180

.357 SIG- 125

.45 ACP- 185, 230

When selecting hollow points for self defense, I recommend rounds that penetrate more than the minimum penetration depth. The Golden Saber has a good reputation for deep penetration and excellent consistency in performance. The Goldensaber Bonded is still in the underdog status but has been around for a few years with little attention. I feel like that is a shame because it seems to offer so much and sacrifice so little. I would be perfectly fine if Remington replaced their traditional Golden Sabers with the Bonded version. Just be advised that this and the traditional design of Golden Sabers were designed with duty sized pistols in mind. This means that these rounds are designed to work best in barrels that are 4″ or longer. That being said, with the right holster, you can carry a pistol with a 4″ barrel with relative ease. Take a serious look at this underdog in the hollowpoint world. It is uncommon, but it is also one of the best performers along with other more popular hollow point designs.
