The Coyote – Reviewed By Rob Furlong

March 11, 2014 by Eric Davis 3 Comments

Penned by: Sun News Network for The Loadout Room

Review performed by: Rob Furlong

Rob was a corporal in the PPCLI.  He received a bronze star from the US military during Operation Anaconda in Afghanistan.  It is on that mission that he registered a 2,430 meter kill.

The Coyote

Looking to reach out and touch something? Then here’s a dog that definitely hunts.

The Coyote, a rifle from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada’s PGW Defence Technology Inc., is chambered in 7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) and offers sub .5 MOA with proper ammunition, thanks to a top notch McMillan A5 fiberglass stock — available in a folding version — and a 24″, fluted, 6-groove, 1-in-10 twist Kreiger barrel.

You can shoot it all day, too, because it comes equipped with a muzzle brake.

And in case you needed proof PGW builds premium tack-drivers, they also manufacture the C14 Timberwolf, a medium-range sniper weapon system chambered in .338 Lapua in use with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Canada’s Rob Furlong, a former sniper with the CF, says the Coyote is “a wonderful system” that is “extremely accurate and extremely fun to shoot.”

He uses the Coyote himself for target shooting and can shoot quarter MOA groups.

On top, the Coyote wears a 1913 Picatinny rail with a 25-minute forward slope.

The action includes a one-piece bolt, three locking lugs — dual lugs in front and one in the rear — a single plunger ejector with hook type extractor, a three position safety, and an 8-round stainless steel clip.

The single-stage trigger is fully adjustable for weight, creep and over travel.

Overall weight of the Coyote is 13.5 lbs. and it’s available in two very cool color patterns: solid tan metal with a desert camo stock, or solid green metal with a green camo stock.

I would like to thank  Rob Furlong and Bryn Weese for the article above.
Rob Furlong served as a sniper in the 3rd Battalion of the PPCLI.   Bryn Weese is a journalist with Sun News Network and an accomplished hunter and angler.
