Trailblazer Lifecard 22 LR – First Look

I like the usual, the strange and the creative when it comes to firearms. There are only so many times you can shoot a polymer striker fired handgun and still find anything new with it. When something like TrailBlazer’s Lifecard 22 LR comes to be I take notice. I don’t mind guns being weird, odd, or guns I don’t have an overall use for. The Lifecard certainly falls into the weird and odd category, but is it useless?

What is it?

The Lifecard is a 22 LR handgun that folds into a something approximately the same length and width of a credit card. It’s a bit thicker than a credit card, but its still only half an inch thick. The gun itself unfolds into a firing configuration complete with grip and trigger. It’s a single shot, single action weapon. It weighs a mere 7 ounces and is made entirely of aluminum and steel.

The Purpose

Trailblazer markets the gun as a deep concealed carry piece. Its small size, low weight, and ability to fold makes it easy to carry regardless of what you wear and what you’re up to. The industry is full of micro concealed carry guns right now so does the Lifecard 22 have a place? It’s certainly one of the easiest guns to carry out there, and its design makes it inherently safe.

It’s also only a single shot 22 LR in a platform larger than an NAA 5 shot micro revolver. That being said, it’s unique ability to fold means it doesn’t have the profile of a gun until necessary. I don’t see it as a main concealed carry handgun, but it may serve a role as a backup gun. I plan to carry it as a backup with my main gun and see where the potential in a firearm like this lies. Stay tuned for a full review coming soon.
