Tactical Solutions X Ring Rifles: SHOT Show

During Industry Day at the Range as part of SHOT Show 2017 I got a chance to spend quite a bit of time with the team from Tactical Solutions of Boise Idaho. The company has a long history of making barrels and accessories for a wide range of guns including trusted old faithfuls like the Ruger 10/22 rifles Mk II pistols. Their attention to detail and quality materials always stand out whenever I get a chance to examine Tac Sol products closely, unfortunately I had never gotten the chance to see a complete rifle until this week, that’s when I saw the Tactical Solutions X Ring Rifle, and it lived up to the hype 100%

This year the display was small and only featured a two rifles and two pistols but I was impressed with how the reps in the booth were professional yet had personality. They explained all the details and modifications that the X Ring Take Down rifles had and how they were upgrades over the old stock parts, but they did it in a manner to not sound as if they were talking down to us or badmouthing the other companies. It would be nice if other companies including a certain Las Vegas based custom pistol manufacturer had the same mentality when it comes to business practices, but that topic is for a different time and different place.

What makes the X Ring so special ?  

The short answer to that question is that Tactical Solutions takes almost every accessory they produce and put it all in one rifle. The barrel, action, magazine release, and trigger are just some of the components that they enhance or replace from the stock Ruger 10/22. Couple that to a MagPul Hunter X-22 stock and you have a very sound base for any type or target shooting or small game hunting that you might want to try, all you are missing is an optic and a bipod like a Harris HBRM bipod.
