Ruger SR45 – Completing the Lineup

Ruger SR45 - TheArmsGuide.com

Ruger SR45

The Ruger SR45 joins Ruger’s line of polymer-framed pistols, including the SR9 and SR40. As the other pistols in the SR line, the Ruger SR45 comes with the integrated trigger safety, frame-mounted safety, and a loaded chamber indicator. This Ruger carries 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP. The SR45 allows for some degree  of customization with its accessory rail and reversible backstrap.

At Media Day at the Range during SHOT Show 2013, I got to fire a few rounds through the Ruger SR45. It felt much like firing a larger version of the SR9. The full size grip makes the pistol easy to control, and it doesn’t hurt that the recoil doesn’t feel particularly snappy, either.

I’m curious to see how the Ruger SR45 will compare against other polymer framed .45s already on the market, such as the Springfield XD45 and the Glock 30. If you didn’t already have a SR polymer pistol, how does the addition of a .45 affect your interest in the series?
