Spyderco Bradley Folder 2: First Look

October 24, 2017 by Travis Pike Leave a Comment

Spyderco Bradley

Shockingly enough this is the first Spyderco I’ve ever owned. Part of me has always wanted to try one, especially after see fellow Loadout Room writers Scott and Rex review Spyderco knives. Finally, I got lucky enough for an opportunity to review the Spyderco Bradley folder 2, a large and capable folding knife. The first thing that catches your eye, or at least my eye, was the carbon fiber handles. In reality, they are a mix of carbon fiber and G-10 material. The next thing you notice is how light this big knife feels.

Spyderco Bradley Folder 2: First Look

It’s total opened length is about eight and a half inches, but it only weighs 4.5 ounces. The blade is 3.66 inches long, and only .118 of an inch thick. It utilizes a Michael Walker liner lock for firm locking and easy unlocking. The blade is from CPM M4 steel and it’s remarkably sharp. CPM M4 steel is a tooling steel that can be honed quite finely and is resistant to wear. It’s not completely stainless, but it is stain resistant.

Spyderco Bradley? Bradley who?

The Bradley in Spyderco Bradley comes from renowned knife maker Gayle Bradley. Gayle Bradley makes a variety of knives on his own but teamed up with Spyderco for a series of knives. The Spyderco Bradley folder 2 is the sequel to the original Spyderco Bradley folder. Mr. Bradley can definitely design a knife.

The blade is nice and long, as is the handle. That long, but light handle is comfortable in the hand and fills it nicely. The curvature of the handle gives you good leverage, and fits the hand like a 1911. It’s a very refined knife and you can tell it was designed by someone who knew a thing or two about knives.

The Spyderco Bradley is a working man’s knife disguised as a gentleman’s knife. It’s elegant, graceful, good-looking, but it’ll put in work. Stay tuned for our full review.
