Radical Fitness Bike | The Minnesota Fat Bike

Radical Fitness Bike | The Minnesota Fat Bike

January 22, 2017 by Richard Moore 2 Comments

Are you looking forward to embracing the suck like no other? What do you do when you no longer can take out your road bike, but you have a craving for a serious workout and a radical ride? The Framed Minnesota Fat bike from The House Outdoor Gear is the answer. The Fat bike is the answer for the Northern Latitude restless athlete always looking for outdoor exercise when the snow comes, the temperature plummets, and the suck meter is pegged-out with terrible conditions. The Minnesota 1.0 took the cycling world by storm when it first came out close to 5 years ago. Now in its third generation, the Minnesota 1.0 is still kicking it, and taking names. Nothing gets old about this bike’s SRAM X4 1×9 drive train. The precision shifting 1:1 actuation ratio makes every transfer crisp and accurate, the way you intended.

The cushioned balloon ride is like peddling on a cloud, and the tires can be lowered all the way down to about one psi to get through the sand and snow. The 26” x 4” wide tires can handle like a normal set of Mountain bike tires when fully inflated, but when it is sloppy, and you’re looking for a serious workout, drop the PSI and hit the beach, desert, or snowy trail. The Framed Minnesota Fat Bike is now in version 3 with all the bells and whistles, like Carbon-Fiber front forks, Front and Rear hydraulic disc brakes, and SRAM components. The gear ratios 1X9, Front 32t / Rear 11-32t up to 2X10, Front 28/38t Rear 11-32 make it easy to plow through the slog. It only weighs 32 lbs 3oz for those of you that are conscious about your figure.

This fat bike can be used as a back up “bug out” vehicle or a secondary way to hunt. It can ride through marsh and bogs pretty well; however, for the wild bunch out there, it doesn’t float. Going for an easy 3-mile ride on the beach or in the desert can generate up to a 600 – 800 calories burn in less than 30 minutes, so if you have given up running in the winter, can’t ride your best “Tour de BFE” road bike, then this bike is for you. Every Framed Fat Bike comes with a (3) year warranty. All components have a (1) year warranty; tires are excluded, which is great as my first bike, I sheered the arm and the pedals right off the bike. I guess those forced marches; these days GoRuck events, have made my legs too powerful for modern equipment.
