Victorinox Swiss Army Spartan

February 2, 2017 by Scott Witner 1 Comment

Victorinox Swiss Army Spartan

The Victorinox Swiss Army Spartan could be considered the basic full-length Swiss Army Knife upon which the manufacturer’s other models are based. I don’t find myself needing pliers on a daily basis, so this knife fits the role perfectly as a daily carry tool. It has only the tools that I use on a regular basis and it’s lightweight. The fact that it is small and light means you will carry it more often. Typically if something is too heavy or bulky, we tend not to carry it for a while, and then it gets left it in a drawer. That’s not the case here.

Victorinox Swiss Army Spartan Specs

Style of knife: Multi-function pocket knife

Blade length: Large blade – 2 3/8″, small blade – 1.5″

Type of edge: Standard V grind on the two knife blades.

Blade and handle materials: Handle is polished red Celidor. The blade steel is called Inox. Inox steel is a highly polished stainless steel that has an extremely high corrosion resistance and overall toughness.

Weight: 2.1 ounces

MSRP: $30. However, it can be found on Amazon for around $15.

Unique features: Comes with 12 tools: a large blade, small blade, toothpick, tweezers, corkscrew, key ring, reamer, can opener with a small screw driver, and a bottle opener with a large screw driver and wire stripper.

Application: The Spartan is well suited for everyday carry and won’t freak people out when you pull it out of your pocket to use it like most tacti-cool knives would. This knife also makes for a good companion to a larger knife when out on the trail or camping.

Pros: Small, lightweight, and tough. When used properly, this knife can accomplish almost any daily task.

Cons: Blades and tools do not lock.

Bottom line/overall performance: Rest assured that this pocket knife will assist you in any situation. It’s a must have for anyone. Just take a look of how a small knife like this one allowed Aron Ralston to rescue himself from imminent death.
