SHOT Show 2017: Hudson H9 Interview

The Hudson H9 pistol was introduced this year, and it has drawn alot of attention. The Hudson H9 is shrouded in mystery, and for very good reason. This pistol is boasting a new design that is completely different from what we have available right now. The hard part for us as media is dealing with the fact that we don’t get to take the pistol apart and see why it looks like it does. This brings alot of curiosity and mystery to this pistol. All of us in the press want to know what we can, but unfortunately we are all going to have the same story until we get a chance to test them and open them up.

New ideas and designs are usually funky looking when first implemented. It isn’t usually until the design is better understood, altered, and in production for a while that you see changes that make the design more compact and streamline. Just as an example, for a long while, semi-auto pistols were seen as being goofy and funny looking by those used to double action or single action revolvers. And let’s be honest, old semi auto pistols were clunky and ugly at the time. But decades of innovation and manufacturing technology improvements allowed us to make the pistols more efficient in their size and weight. This in turn gave the pistols more room for cosmetic improvements to please the eye.

Only time will tell what the Hudson H9 is hiding under its big dust cover. I will be patiently keeping my eye on this one for sure. Truly mysterious, and quite the popular pistol this year at SHOT show 2017.
