6 New Pieces of Law Enforcement Gear We Like in Early 2017

6 New Pieces of Law Enforcement Gear We Like in Early 2017

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

If you’re a law enforcement officer, it’s important to stay aware of the latest gear that’s out there in the marketplace. But there’s a lot to choose from. That’s where we come in. Here’s a quick look at six pieces of law enforcement gear we’re liking so far this year.

S2Delta Modular Tactical Swing

S2Delta, a brand of Recon Tactical Engineering, was recently launched with the Modular Tactical Sling (MTS). This streamlined sling is comfortable and lightweight while being extremely versatile with respect to firearm platforms and missions. The MTS features a 2-inch-thick shoulder strap to comfortably spread the load on the operator’s shoulder without adding the weight or bulk of padding. However, the ends that interface with the weapon taper to 1-inch-thick sections. The two-point sling is easy to adjust and features modular attachment options. (s2delta.com)

Bravo Concealment BCA

The Bravo Concealment Adaptive (BCA) holster is a new outside-the-waistband (OWB) rig made of high-quality, lightweight and durable Kydex. The design carries your gun high and tight against your body, allowing for maximum concealability. It arrives set up for a 10-degree forward cant, but users can move the belt loops vertically to adjust the cant for different carry options. You can also change out the holster’s OWB belt loops with Bravo’s patent-pending tuckable IWB belt clips, turning your holster into an inside-the-waistband (IWB) rig. 8 Quick and Easy DIY Upgrades to Trick Out Your AK

8 Quick and Easy DIY Upgrades to Trick Out Your AK

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

I think of firearms as tools, and like my tools, I always end up altering and changing them to fit my preferences and needs. That’s why Russian soldiers currently field upgraded AKs, not wood-stocked, Vietnam-era rifles. If your rifle is a “safe queen,” fine, but I use my AKs for all manner of training courses and range trips. These are my go-to rifles when it comes time to fine-tune my shooting skills.

I’ve altered my AKs to make them better suited to the hard use common in today’s training courses. For most applications, they work as well as any rifle. Of course, they have their limitations—I generally use them within 300 meters—which is perfectly acceptable for an AK outside of a video game or movie. So, with all that in mind, let’s look at some common modifications you can make to turn your AK into a tactical workhorse.

I’ll start by saying that my needs revolve around practical accuracy, ease of use from either side and the ability to add a white light and red-dot sight. If I plan to use my AK for practical distances, I’ll chose a red-dot sight over a magnified optic any day of the week. But this is just the beginning of the upgrades. Scroll through the gallery above to see eight DIY upgrades to trick out your AK.

Windham Warriors: 5 Tank-Tough Windham Weaponry ARs for Any Task

Windham Warriors: 5 Tank-Tough Windham Weaponry ARs for Any Task

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

I have had the opportunity to test several rifles from Windham Weaponry, and they have all performed in an exemplary fashion in terms of reliability and accuracy. Sure, anyone can build an AR, but not everyone can consistently build them right, something Windham Weaponry has definitively achieved. While its selection of rifles and carbines was limited at first, the company has grown by leaps and bounds, introducing new models each year and showing something that isn’t easy in the AR world—a penchant for innovation. Even if the name of Windham Weaponry still strikes some as unfamiliar, its heritage should not. The company and its employees have decades of AR manufacturing experience under a previous and very well-known name in the industry. Currently, all of Windham’s rifles are built to meet or exceed mil-spec requirements with chrome-lined, 4150 chrome-moly-vanadium steel barrels and hardcoat anodized upper and lower receivers forged from 7075-T6 aluminum. Windham Weaponry also provides one of the strongest transferable warranties in the industry, guaranteeing against any defects for the lifetime of the firearm. That’s pretty hard to beat in a crowded market. So, without further ado, let’s look at some of Windham’s best AR-platform rifles.

TrackingPoint Introduces the M400XHDR .300 Blackout Rifle

TrackingPoint Introduces the M400XHDR .300 Blackout Rifle

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

TrackingPoint is bringing the .300 Blackout round back to its stable with its new M400XHDR rifle. Built on the Austin, Texas-based company’s AR platform, the Gen 2, night-vision enabled M400XHDR boasts a 400-yard lock range and the knockdown power of a .30 caliber.

The M400XHDR also shares a lot of the same technological advances as the rest of the company’s lineup of precision-guided firearms, such as the RapidLok Trigger System, which ensures precise accuracy by acquiring, tracking and locking on ranged targets. Meanwhile, audio/video capture capability lets you record your experience, and broadcast capability via WiFi lets you share it live with friends and family.

According to the press release, the M400 system is powered by five optical modes. Precision Target and Precision Mover calculate ballistic and firing solutions for the shooter. Auto-Acquire mode snaps the reticle to a pre-determined center of mass of a tagged target. Suppressive Fire mode calculates and holds real-time ballistic solutions coupled with a live trigger to engage multiple targets quickly. The final mode, Night Mode, uses CMOS sensor technology to deliver Gen 2 night vision performance when used with the rail-mounted IL illuminator that comes standard with every M400XHDR. Basically, this rifle acquires and tracks targets in the dark just as easily as it does in the daylight.

6 of the Best Tactical and Hunting ARs from DPMS Panther Arms

6 of the Best Tactical and Hunting ARs from DPMS Panther Arms

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

If you’ve been to a major shooting event or trade show, chances are you have seen the DPMS Panther Arms truck and trailer. The graphics on the sides of both make them impossible to miss.

Indeed, DPMS has a large presence, both in marketing and in market share. To be honest, I had to do a little research on the web to learn that DPMS stood for “Defense Procurement Manufacturing Services.” The company was founded in 1985 by Randy Luth as a consulting company for government contracts. But what started as a small machine shop has grown into the second-largest manufacturer of AR-15 rifles. The company also sponsors a competitive shooting team that has been extremely successful.

An Inside Look at Robar’s Custom Handguns, Rifles

An Inside Look at Robar’s Custom Handguns, Rifles

(Article courtesy of Tactical Life)

We’re big fans of Robar around here. After all, they produce some of the finest custom firearms and finishes out there in the marketplace today, and their track record ever since they first burst onto the scene back in 1983 speaks for itself. For example, did you know that LAPD SWAT’s first precision rifle was a Robar SR-60? It’s true. Also, the USMC’s first .50-cal was a Robar RC-50, and it’s still being used today by the Coast Guard. We could go on, but you get the idea. These guys make rugged and reliable firearms for harsh environments.
