Panthera Silva Eyewear Hardcase survival kit

Panthera Silva Eyewear Hardcase survival kit

The advantage of a small kit like this is that I can throw it into any bag really and turn that said bag into a go-bag if you want to call it that. Due to the compact size of the Panthera Eyewear Hardcase, this makes an ideal sized kit to keep in the glovebox of my truck too. Get a few of them and have a kit in each vehicle as well as your bag. Being able to layer kits could potentially be a lifesaver one day. The time chooses you. Prepare now so that you’re ready to save yourself or someone else.

How much are your eyes worth? Probably enough that you spend some real money on proper eye protection. Your Gatorz aren’t cheap, but your eyes are worth it. With that in mind, we’ve designed the Panthera CC Hardcase to protect that valued set of eye protection. There is no need to risk scratched lenses or broken frames. The last thing you need before a mission kicks off is glasses you can barely see out of. The Hardcase is coated with a custom camo pattern that mimics the natural camo of big cats. We top it off by adorning it with the Crate Club logo, signifying your status as a member of the best gear club on the market.

Sneak peek at the Grey Ghost Gear RRS Transport Bag

Sneak peek at the Grey Ghost Gear RRS Transport Bag

We just got in the new Grey Ghost Gear RRS Transport Bag. The idea behind this bag is a vehicle go-bag, so that’s how I plan on employing this bag. Over the course of the next few weeks, I’m going to load this out as a vehicle go bag in my Chevy Silverado Trail Boss. Once I have it dialed in, I will be doing a more in-depth review of the bag and the contents I chose to carry in it. Stay tuned to the Loadout Room.

We took the ‘Go-Bag’ concept and transformed it into a slimmer profile upon request of Law Enforcement and First Responders. The RRS Transport Bag is the ideal size for storing in a vehicle, either behind or under the seats. Should you need to rapidly reacting to a critical situation, the RRS Transport Bag can be easily grabbed and brought into the fight.

Sh!t Kit field toilet kit: Don’t get caught with your pants down

Sh!t Kit field toilet kit: Don’t get caught with your pants down

When I originally saw this product I had to laugh. Out of all the products we’ve reviewed on the Loadout Room, how was I going to make this fit into our demographic? My initial gut reaction was that this was one of those gimmicky products that had no real practicality. After I had received a few samples in the mail my tune changed a bit.

Let me start off with a real story that could have benefited from the Sh!t Kit.

A few years back I was out on a longer than normal day hike with a friend of mine. About halfway through the hike, they had the sudden urge to use the restroom. Well, being that we were halfway into our hike we were nowhere close to any facilities. Just us and the woods around us. Not being able to hold it, they went off the trail behind a tree and did their business. A few minutes later they were calling my name asking if I had any toilet paper…..ah no! I’m like a damn camel and rarely ever have to ‘go’ when I’m out on a long hike. In this instant, we had to improvise. I ended up cutting off a small portion of my t-shirt for them to use. Not the best case scenario, but better than using leaves.

Needless to say, the Sh!t Kit would have come in very handy that day…lol

Moving onto more of a preparedness mindset, the Sh!t Kit would make a great addition to any go bag. Depending on how far you have to go in order to make it home or to a safe location, you or someone you’re with may have to use the restroom. This field toilet kit allows you to handle those times when you’re on the move.

What’s included in the kit:

  • Toilet paper
  • Wet wipes
  • Disposal bag (to leave zero trace)
  • Hand sanitizer

Single kits are only $2.50 or you can get a pack of 20 for $50. Made in the USA and Veteran owned.

From the Potty Packs website:

This outdoor toilet pack includes everything but the toilet. Included are 4 feet of two-ply toilet tissue and wet wipes. The wet wipes are made with Vitamin E and Aloe. Follow up by cleaning your hands with the sanitizer lotion and hand wipes. The disposal bag can be used to not to leave any trace behind.

5.11 Range Ready Bag | Best Bang For Your Buck

5.11 Range Ready Bag: Best bang for your buck

The Loadout Room has reviewed it’s fair share of Range Bags. All of which have their own merits. But trying to find the one with the best features-to-price ratio can be difficult. 5.11 Tactical has bridged the gap and created a well-built, feature-rich bag that won’t break the bank. Retailing for $99.99, the Range Ready Bag from 5.11 is poised to take on the job of hauling your essential gear to-and-from the range.

Maintaining proficiency with a handgun has been a goal of mine since leaving the 75th Ranger Regiment. Actually, it has been more of a mission than a goal. Complacency is a bad habit that surrounds us in our daily lives which can ultimately kill you. My wife occasionally busts my balls about being on the look-out for trouble but deep down, she knows it’s for our own protection. I highly doubt the level of training that most conceal carriers partake in would be sufficient for an actual SHTF shootout. My experience shooting with some of the best soldiers on the planet exposed me to the number of rounds needed to maintain that level of proficiency.

With that in mind, I spend between 2-4 hours a week at the range with a pistol and carbine in my hands. Having a personal range nearby and 2 eager sons that love shooting, it’s more fun than work. One of many keys to a successful day at the range is having the proper tools on hand. And making that a possibility is always having a dedicated range bag packed and ready to go. 5.11 Tactical has created the Range Ready Bag to be just that, sitting on the war room floor. Packed and ready to deploy at a moments notice.

5.11 Range Ready Bag | Best Bang For Your Buck

Easily large enough to support 2-3 handguns as well as the necessary ancillary gear, this range bag has a few unique features of its own. Inside the spacious main compartment lies a removable ammo tote. Once removed, you’ll find a sturdy rectangular bag with customizable dividers for separating ammo, holsters or ear protection. Policing up spent brass at the end of the day is the duty of my diligent younger shooters. And the Range Ready Bag includes one of my favorite features, a removable mesh-bottomed brass bag. Which keeps the sand or snow, stuck to the brass, outside of the range bag where it belongs.

Surrounding the main compartment of the Range Ready Bag are 5 separate zippered pockets. The largest of these once opened fully creates a padded work mat for maintaining or cleaning a pistol. Additionally, 8 magazine pouches are sewn into the wall of this 8.5” x 15.5” x 2.5 pocket along with a pistol sleeve. 3 other outer pockets measuring 8.5” x 7.5” x 2.5” are perfect for ear muffs, gloves, a shot timer, etc. Finally, the small zippered pocket on the end is well suited for protecting your favorite pair of Oakleys alongside a dedicated water bottle pocket.

In conclusion, the 5.11 Tactical Range Ready Bag has the features I want at a price I’m willing to pay. Range bags from Red Rock Outdoor Gear to Oakley have graced my presence yet this one from 5.11 best suits me. Extensive padding found in all dividers and pockets of the Range Ready Bag are what maintain its cube-like shape. Making organization as well as locating its contents a snap. Additionally, stealthy zippered pockets on the ammo tote are a great place to store my NFA paperwork. Finally, sturdy YKK zippers and a padded shoulder strap are why this durable bag will continue to be my caddy for the upcoming 3-gun season.

Electrolyte replacement with SaltStick Caps

Electrolyte replacement with SaltStick Caps

SaltStick Capsules are critical to minimizing muscle cramping, heat stress and fatigue due to unbalanced electrolyte levels. SaltStick Caps are formulated to closely resemble the electrolyte profile lost during activity: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium. Whether you are running a full marathon, out on a long day hike, or spend hours in the sun, these are for you. The SaltStick Caps also make an ideal supplement to keep in your bug out bags. If you’re “on the run” in a bug out scenario or deep in the wilderness on a backpacking trip, dehydration is an inherent risk and can lead to death if it’s not dealt with. During these times, take one capsule with water for each hour of activity in order to keep your body hydrated and your electrolyte levels where they need to be.

I personally keep a handful of salt capsules with my Adventure Go Bag. The salt capsules combined with my Hydro Flask water bottle and survival straw give me a fighting chance against dehydration and heat-related illness.

Key Features:

  • The ONLY electrolyte capsule that was formulated to closely resemble the electrolyte profile lost during activity: sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium
  • Only 1 capsule per serving. Suggested use: 1 capsule per 30-60 minutes during activity
  • Buffered salt composition that helps digestion and absorption
  • Vegetable-based capsule composition; Bio-available active ingredients
  • Contains only WHAT YOU NEED. No herbal, trace, or questionable components added
  • Gluten free
  • No sweeteners or high fructose corn syrup
  • Does not contain any World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) or International Olympic Committee (IOC) banned substances
  • Saltstick Caps uniquely includes vitamin D that helps the body absorb and utilize calcium

5.11 Rush Delivery LIMA: A contractors business bag

5.11 Rush Delivery LIMA: A contractors business bag

Fashion or Functionality?

Yes, you can have both…

When I first saw the RUSH Delivery LIMA my initial thought was: “This bag was far too technical for the everyday executive”. Sure, if I were conducting business in Cartel-era Columbia the quick-draw compartment for a covert sidearm might be useful but how often did I need that in my daily business functions? The superior tactical design was more than eye-catching but certain to raise suspicion of some type of secret operation within the walls of my office right?

Nonetheless, I began to load the LIMA with my personal tactical essentials (laptop, portfolio, iPad, iPhone, folders, pens, etc) and to say I was surprised would be an understatement. This bag was cavernous with more internal and external storage space than even the most industrious executive could fill, but it still managed a slim and highly portable design. It easily accommodated a 17” laptop within its secure padded compartment. I slipped the iPad into a separate nook and then began to see how much gear I could stuff into this beast… iPhone, check… portfolio check…pens, check…legal size manilla folders…check, camera….check. I was literally looking for more things to occupy the numerous compartments the LIMA offered. A luxury, I might add that my Kenneth Cole Portfolio / Computer Case never provided.

Out the door I went fully loaded, mission ready and into my personal assault vehicle, err…BMW. Never could I have anticipated the reaction upon arrival at my office sans the usual luxury leather “fashion statement” over my shoulder. Instead of curious stares, I was greeted with genuine intrigue about my latest piece of hardware. “Where did you get that and how can I get one?”, was one response. Others were drawn to the “industrialized – special forces” appearance of the LIMA. Most just looked on enviously as I pulled everything but the kitchen sink from its belly like some triumphant archeologist returning from my latest conquest.

But here’s where things got fun…

As a bounty hunter/bail bond agent my days are…lets just say, less than routine. Most of the time I’m in court to file various motions or meeting with a family member to bond their loved one out of custody. However, on occasion, I find myself in situations that require a more forceful response. I’ve always kept my “deterrents” in a separate bag in the trunk of my car. The LIMA, however, provided a whole new option… A multitude of areas designed specifically to carry these types of protective devices and the ammunition that makes them effective, on my side and at the ready.

I know, I started this write up mocking the need for such compartments but let’s face it the world is changing every day. Sadly this isn’t Mayberry and a routine day at the office can quickly become less than routine for any of us. The need, for even the most strident desk jockey, to securely and fashionably carry both business and protective tools is far more commonplace. The RUSH Delivery Lima provides all of this and more.
