Blue Force Gear Medic Sling – Go anywhere do anything

Blue Force Gear Medic Sling - Go anywhere do anything

August 23, 2017 by Travis Pike 2 Comments

The Vickers sling from Blue Force Gear is by far my favorite sling for a rifle. I’ve used the Vickers Standard Issue for over 5 years now and along the way have gotten the Vickers One and Vickers AK sling. I’m pumped to be here today to introduce the newest sling in Blue Force Gear’s lineup, the Medic sling. I’ve only had the sling for a short time, but I’ve had the ability to move and groove with it a bit, and have discovered a few advantages the Vickers medic has over the standard Vickers sling.

What Makes the Vickers Medic Different?

Before we dive into the physical aspects we are going to talk about inspired the design. Larry Vickers was not a medic, but undoubtedly he worked with a wide variety of 18D special forces medics. This sling was designed with input from those Special Forces medics, as well as other combat medics (and Corpsman). The idea being that as a medic they are lifesavers first, trigger pullers second. The slin is designed to maximize the adaptability of the sling. This allows a medic to treat a patient without their rifle in the way.

Traditional Single Tab…

The Vickers Medic sling does this by doubling up on the quick adjusting pull tabs that made the Vickers sling famous in the first place. Now instead of having one pull tab near the barrel you have two. One in the original location and one on the rear side of the sling.

Bam, Now we got Two Tabs

This allows for a very high degree of rapid adjustment. Of course, you’ll need to adjust the overall length of the sling by the traditional means first.  Both tabs are easy to reach and you can instantly tighten the sling down to your body.

But I’m not a Medic, is this sling for me?

While the Vickers Medic Sling was designed with Medics in mind it doesn’t take much time to see the value in this sling. First, it should be mentioned if you are an armed professional you may not be a medic, but you have to treat a wounded comrade or enemy, and the sling is valuable there.

Also, the ability to tighten the sling down nice and tight to the body allows shooters to more easily climb ladders, fast rope, navigate obstacles, and more. If you’re the breacher with a sledge-hammer or part of a ram team this sling will allow you to kick down doors without a rifle bouncing around. Let’s not discount escorting cuffed detainees without a rifle banging your knees. This thing makes climbing a tree stand a lot more comfortable too.

The Vickers Medic sling it was one of the best options for rifles equipped with a PDW stock. My Otto Arms PDW stock equipped SCAR 16s changes drastically in length between collapsed and extended. The dual pull tabs make it easy to adjust the sling for both a collapsed or extended stock. If you are rocking a PDW Stock I’d take a look at this sling post-haste.

The Vickers medic sling gives you the ability to work with both hands without worrying about a rifle bumping and grinding like a drunk sorority girl into you.

Performance of the Vickers Medic Sling

What can I say? It’s a Vickers Blue Force Gear sling. You know it’s going to work, and you know it’s going to work well. The pull tabs glide over the sling with ease but never slip or slide. The 1.25 inch webbing supports standard rifles without feeling like it’s biting into you. It’s simply supportive. Blue Force Gear revolutionized slings with the VCAS, and it seems like they are doing it again with the Vickers Medic Sling. The Medic sling offers you freedom, to go anywhere and do anything.
