BLACKHAWK Enhanced Battle Bag

BLACKHAWK Enhanced Battle Bag | First Impressions

January 13, 2018 by Richard Moore Leave a Comment

The BLACKHAWK Enhanced Battle Bag is a mission specific bag; EDC, Map Case, Admin pack, that can be used for a variety of objectives. The bag comes with an integrated transparent map pouch built into the bag’s top flap that can be removed for group viewing or for orienting your location on flat surfaces. The bag’s interior has the normal blended briefcase items, such as pen holders, pockets, etc. The briefcase also has a secondary divided pocket is lined with Velcro and comes with an attachable universal holster and pistol magazine pouch. Additionally, the bag’s exterior sides and front are covered with MOLLE webbing for additional mission specific attachments or tool attachments. The bag’s shoulder strap is attached with plastic buckles to keep the weight low, and comes with their HawkTex pad for comfortable extended carry time. The bag is backed by BLACKHAWK’s warranty and is made of tough ballistic nylon.

So, with all the options available out there, why this bag? If you do not need a full pack, a limited load out of gear, a semi-low profile bag (MOLLE is too overt) with the ability to carry off-body concealed firearms, be able to quickly access your topo and carry critical documents, then this is the bag for you. I can also think of uses during events such as GoRuck’s Constellation challenge or Triple Aught Design’s CORE program, where you will need to have access to a variety of tools and maps. The bag’s compact design and MOLLE webbing can be carried separately or attached with Grimloc D-Rings as mission pack or smaller assault pack. Another good feature is the transparent map pouch; go old school with grease pencils to mark your objectives and in the event your compromised, you can quickly erase any trace of your routes and rally-points.

My only issue with the bag, which is essentially an upgraded modern version of the WWII map case, is that unless you are using a 13” or less, slim notebook it won’t fit, or you need to access your off-body carry firearm with speed the bag is limited in that capacity. Other than those concerns, the bag is a valuable addition to your load out capabilities.
