Talon Gun Grips | Get a Grip!

Talon Gun Grips | Get a Grip!

August 28, 2016 by Scott Witner Leave a Comment

These days, a lot of shooters are stippling their guns to improve their grip. In my case, I found that my stock Glock grips would get a bit slippery after prolonged shooting due to my hands getting sweaty, or while shooting in inclement weather. Besides the obvious benefits of adding stippling, it looks cool if you get creative with the design.

The problem with stippling: It’s a permanent change to your gun. If you plan on keeping the gun, then stipple away. But I like to keep my options open in the event I want to sell or trade the gun. In the past, I’ve tried the skateboard tape thing, which does work, but it may be too aggressive for some shooters with sensitive hands.

Not too long ago, I came across a company called Talon Gun Grips. They produce some of the best grip enhancements for handguns and AR platforms. Talon Grips manufactures adhesive grips in two flavors: One is a sandpaper-like surface they call “particulate,” and the other is a “rubber” texture which is less abrasive. Both improve the shooter’s ability to get a positive grip on their pistol.

You would be crazy not to give them a try before resorting to stippling your polymer carry gun. Talon also sells their grip material by the sheet, so you can apply it to just about anything your heart desires. Once applied to your gun, the stuff looks badass! I applied it to both my Glock 26 and Glock 17. Now, I can’t stop picking up the guns and holding them—it gives me a good excuse to dry-fire.
