Frogg Toggs Rain Jacket

Frogg Toggs Rain Jacket: First Impression

March 3, 2018 by Scott Witner 2 Comments

If you’re looking for an alternative to an expensive rain jacket, such as those produced by the big name brands, but don’t want to settle for the cheap Wal-Mart version, then look no further than Frogg Toggs‘ All Purpose Men’s Rain Jacket.

Type of jacket: Rain jacket/outer shell for all outdoor activities, including outdoor firearm training courses.

Colors available: Stone. This color is a natural earth tone.

Sizes available: M/L and XL/2X

Weight: 1 pound

Material: Frogg Toggs‘ proprietary non-woven material is guaranteed waterproof and breathable.

Fit and sizing: I’m 5’11” and 175 lbs. I ordered the M/L and it fits great. Not too bulky, but it’s roomy enough to be worn over heavy clothing.

MSRP: $29.95 direct from Frogg Toggs.

Unique features: Comes with a detachable hood and a really high-quality stuff pouch made from the same waterproof non-woven material as the jacket.

Application: All outdoor activities.

Pros: The non-woven waterproof material is quieter than your standard nylon rain-jacket material, making it better suited for hunting or scouting. Also, the stone color naturally blends into a woodland environment. The front of the jacket has a heavy duty zipper and snaps. The best part of this jacket is the modest price tag that accompanies the high-quality materials.

Cons: The size of this jacket when packed up is not as small as some other nylon rain jackets, but for what you get in materials and quality, it’s worth the added size. The only other con I see at this time is the absence of side pockets.

Bottom line/overall performance: Not only is this jacket’s non-woven material waterproof and breathable, but it also keeps the wind out, which ultimately leads to you being not only dry but warmer. A top-quality jacket at an affordable price.
